Last Feb my DF had to have an unexpected double bipass-He and my DM were suppose to come to WDW with me and my family but we postponed for this October thinking he would be good to go by then...unfortunately after having a really hard time with recovery he was diagnosed with lung disease. He is currently on oxygen and has a hard time walking or standing for any long period of time. He is however still insisting to make this trip happen. We are most definately going to rent him ECV and have to get in touch with his oxygen supplier for a POC for travel.
I don't have a perticular question but just searching for any suggestions to help make this trip as enjoyable and none stressful for everyone...It will be myself, DH, our two young DD and DM and DF:goodvibes

October is a good time as it is normally not as crowded as times like June and July. The ECV will help a lot and using fastpass and a good tour plan ( like tour guide Mikes ) will help out more than ever. Be sure to plan a few breaks during the day.

thank you for your response...I am hoping he will not have a difficult time with the ECV-don't want most of his energy to be spent on trying to figure it out;) I have already subscribed to touring plans so will definately get a good tour plan in order...will plan for breaks-lots of them
thanks again

I don't have any great suggestions except the usual ones- that he can rest in any First Aid station if he tires or gets overheated ( it can still be brutally hot in October, esp. for those not used to Florida heat/humidity), and to be sure he stays hydrated. I'd be sure his physician is aware of the trip and assists with recommendations for oxygen amounts (considering he will be more active than usual) and a local emergency vendor ( his vendor should be the one to do help with setting up a local delivery). Have him practice with an ECV in local stores or consider asking his physician to prescribe one for him before you leave home. Check with your insurance company but this may very well be a covered purchase. Other than that, just sending pixie dust for a well-deserved vacation!---Kathy

:thumbsup2, I was just going to say all of that, Thanks!!! definitely checked on his o2 levels as higher humidity means more 02 and maybe a higher lpm. Hope you all have a blast!

:sad1: well unfortunately my DF and DM won't be making this October trip either...Df has had a major set back and ended back in the hospital..He is home now but each day is a struggle...
thank you to all of you who gave me great advice I wish we could use it but at this time my DF illness is just too much for him to travel with...
