Developer Pts Booking Question?

I have a reservation at SSR for 3/28-4/7 using both my developer pts plus some regular pts.

My brother has some developer pts that he can not use and from my understanding can transfer them to me.

My question is, if he transfers the developer pts to me, can I apply them to my existing reservation in place of the regular pts I am using without having to cancel and rebook?

Basically being that it is last minute there are no more studios left. If I cancel and rebook, I will lose the room to a waitlist member correct. Was hoping I can just change the pts being used without cancelling and save myself my pts (so I can bank them to next year).

Developer points can't be transferred. Your brother could make (if available) a reservation in your name with his dev pts, but he can't transfer them.

Since you are less than 30 days from arrival, any regular points returned to your account will be in holding status. That means they cannot be banked and will expire at the end of your current use year. Points in holding can only be used to book a stay that will occur 60 days or less from the time you make the reservation. Since availability is often very limited when you get to the 60 day mark, there is a good chance you will lose the points.

You won't be able to just substitute DP for your points unless there is availability for what you want.

AFAIK, DP cannot be transferred. But if you are OK with getting holding points back, have your brother make a reservation for a night or two for the exact same thing you have currently booked. His reservation would have to be for either the beginning or the end nights of your reservation. Then you can cancel the corresponding night(s) you reserved and MS can link your brother's reservation to yours.

If your brother can't make the reservation (no availability), then my advice is to leave well enough alone.
