Hello - I recently purchased into DVC and received developer points. Can someone who used developer points please advise on the best method of using them? Our points can be used for **. Thank you.

The best value is to use them at Saratoga Springs. If Disneyland is easier, then use them there. If you can't use them all by October 3rd, then deposit them into RCI or you could rent them.

I think it depends on when you want to travel as the developer points expire on October 3 2009 and if you want to use them at WDW or DL you need to complete travel by then. If don't plan to travel before September then you the only way not to lose your developer points is to deposit with RCI I think you are good for two years to find a match.

Although very expensive, I heard its beautiful....I wouldn't pay out of pocket, but I thought I would splurge using Developer Points...Besides, we've never been to Disneyland, so this is a perfect time!

Also, if you plan to use them at the Grand Californian Hotel, do it before Dec 09...I read somewhere now with the Grand Californian Villas, DVC members will not be able to use points at the GC Hotel....I think as the year progresses, it will be tougher and tougher getting a reservation at the Grand Californian Hotel..The Grand Californian Villas promotions are offering incentive stays at the Grand Californian Hotel as a sweetner to buy DVC!

Good Luck! Enjoy planning your vaca using DP's...:wizard::wizard::wizard:Be certain that they don't expire! Too valuable to loose!

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

The OP's post had to be edited as it was written in a way that may be construed as a rental post. Those details may only be posted on the DVC Rent/Trade Board.

If you are thinking of renting, be sure to visit that board and read all the sticky posts on top which will give you all the details of renting DVC points!

We live in San Diego and were debating using our developer points in Disneyland or Las Vegas(RCI) in the summer. Las Vegas rates are so inexpensive that I just couldn't justify 'wasting' those points on something that I could do out of pocket for a very reasonable price...plus it is just too hot to enjoy anything in the summer there.
Grand Californian is beautiful and expensive so if it is a rare opportunity to stay there.....definitely think about it. Disneyland is crazy crowded in the summer because of the smaller size too so we avoid it like the plague and go to Florida in the summer and find the crowds much easier to deal with.

We were able to book a studio for 9 nights starting on a Sunday in July with our 160 free developer points at SSR and are soooo excited. That for me was the deciding factor. We have never stayed there and plan to enjoy some lazy days at the resort with the pools and activities. Plus with DTD right there, it should be a lot of fun. We will manage to take a boat over to POR because I need some beignets!!!!!!!! We had hoped to borrow our 2009 points to get a one bedroom but can't because BLT isn't open yet. But...we mostly stay in smaller resort rooms so this is not a big deal to us. Nine free days is a great vacation stay plus I am military so the free five day pass just adds to the sweetness of the deal. We are so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We are frequent flyers at DL and have stayed at all three properties numerous times so if you have any other questions....let me know. Good luck!
