Funny how I've used DISboards over the past few years. Starting using to plan trips to WDW, then used to plan our recent cruise, and now that I've joined DVC (on the cruise), I'm hanging out in this section of DISboards.

I don't have my activation code/password to log into DVC; I'll give MS a call to get that. In the meantime, I'm starting to think about how to use my points effectively (a good problem to have, I suppose).

UY is February. I bought 160 points at BLT. So, I'm assuming I need to use these by February, or bank them (I believe the bank deadline is around Sept 30). I received 160 developer points, which I understand need to be used at SSR (or a few other places) by Oct 3rd. If I remember the sales pitch correctly, my other option is the use the developer points at an RCI property, and I have two years to do that. So, in essence, I have 320 points to use by February, or bank points (not developer points), or extend the developer points out a couple years.

Questions:

1. Do I need to use the developer points by Oct 3, or just book by Oct 3rd? I'm assuming I need to actually use them (ie stay by then)?

2. Is my 2-year RCI information correct? If so, this gives me a bit more time to figure out what to do with those points. But, is it a big hassle to get an RCI reservation? Availability? $95 transfer cost. Sounds like there may be some other hassles involved from what I've read on the boards, so far. I also saw someplace that I may not be able to break these up. For example use 80points to stay someplace for a few nights, then 80 points to stay someplace else for a few nights.

Thanks for the help.

I suppose another option with the developer points is to rent them, and use the cash for whatever I want.

You nee4d to USE the developer points by Oct. 3rd.

Your info on RCI sounds right but I'm not positive.

My UY is Febraury also and was in the same boat. I never rec'd my activation code in the mail or via email so I had to call MS and get it which was very simple. MS has been very helpful and everyone I have spoken with has been very nice.
I ,too, was conflicted on what to do with the developer points and after much debate decided to book SSR. I was able to book 9 nights in a studio starting on a Sunday in July. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was that I was not able to borrow my 2009 points because we can't do that until BLT opens. I won't be able to take another trip between Aug and Feb so I just banked them and will get a one bedroom next year at BLT in the summer.

I did a lot of research on the RCI properties and there are some really nice places on the West Coast (which is the area I checked out) and may use it in the future.

I just couldn't pass up 9 free nights especially with the military deal on the tickets.
Good luck with your vacation!
