Our home pc broke down today - in for repair and will need rebuilding- ALL our holiday pictures are on there for the last few years.

Not bothered about pictures of me or my wife (neither of us are) - just loads of Joshua in Florida having a good time etc - would be gutted to say the least if we lost them as we do not have them on disc. Fingers crossed but doesn't look good.

everything crossed for you Johnny, I hope they can be recovered, if not you'll just have to get a few extra trips planned to build the album up again :goodvibes

Before you have it rebuilt you may be able to save your pictures. Just because the PC died doesn't mean your Harddrive is broken. If you have a friend (or even a spare PC) with a PC, you can take the Harddrive out of your PC and put it as a slave in his/hers. You will then be able to back up your pictures to CD. :wizard:

This happened to us a couple of years ago and since then I always upload our piccies to photobucket.com after I have them on the pc.

Hope you manage to salvage your piccies.

Even if the disk is trashed all may not be lost :)

There are plenty of data recovery firms out there that for a price may be able to salvage some/all of the information.

http://www.diskdoctorsdatarecovery.co.uk/ are just one such firm that I found dong a quick seerch on the net.

I hope it all turns out well for you Johnny :)

Thanks everyone - good news pc still not fully fixed but the photos are SAFE
:)
phew - I have registered at PhotoBucket also.

This is as close as I will ever come to having loads and loads of smiley's jumping around.

Thanks again all.

Johnny, that is fantastic news (that you have got them back, not that you have lost them)

The sajme thing happened to me last year and I lost a lot of DLP ones. Lesson learnt and I keep them on disk now as well as at an online location.

It is devastating though when this happens.

that is great news!! :Pinkbounc :cheer2: :Pinkbounc :cheer2:

we had this problem with our old pc-but ours were all our ds's newborn photos that we lost........i was heartbroken-i cried for days everytime i thought about it!!we had loads that we had taken and we ended up with nothing-and a couple of months after we found one we had printed out which was taken just minutes after he was born and just a few weeks ago we found some more that we had printed off and given to mil-including one of me with him-they are a bit tatty due to the way she has had them stored but i am hoping that a photo restorer can make them look good again!!

Thanks again for your support - much appreciated.

Will not make the same mistake again, just relieved that Joshua's pictures are safe, was not really bothered about any of me and my wife - the majority are of Josh playing in the pool and at the parks etc. and he does look very good on camera (unlike me).

PC back much quicker and better than it was before, pictures secured and also saved to disc.

Can log on to DISboards without using my works laptop now :-)

Thanks again to all who offered support.
