WE are looking at possibly flying out of DTW to CA in Sept./Oct need suggestions on hotel with airport shuttle and parking for car while you are away. Don't need anything fancy, We are Value resort type folks.

We're going to try the Howard Johnson next month. We got a rate of $77 with taxes. We weren't being too picky as we'll really only be there for a quick sleep.

We like Quality Inn. Friendly staff, free morning breakfast. Shuttle every 1/2 hour to 1hour. And it includes parking. I got a rate of 110.00 with taxes with 14 days of parking!

I'll check out suggestions. DH seems to like Days Inn. I believe BFF has stayed at Quaility Inn but she couldn't remember

Check out parksleepfly com. I've found better rates through them than directly through the hotels sometimes. I've stayed at La Quinta and Four Points at DTW. Both hotels were nice. If prices are similar, I'd take La Quinta because they use QwikPark and you never have to wait for their shuttles.

When we fly out of DTW, we use either the Springhill Suites or the Fairfield Inn. Both are Marriott branded, they are right next to each other, they both offer free breakfasts and the parking is only $10 and it covers 8 days. When you check out, you simply drive to the parking lot, tell the attendant what airline you are flying and they will have a shuttle escort you to your parking space. The driver will assist with you luggage, transport you right to the terminal and give you a ticket with your parking space on it. When you return, there will be a shuttle waiting for you (or one coming shortly) and they take you right back to your car. They send a new shuttle as soon as one leaves so there is very little waiting.

Our most recent experience was in June 2012. We were a group of 15 people with 3 vehicles and 4 rooms. It was so simple! My dad was very hesitant to fly out of Detroit (since the GRR airport is only 15 minutes away) but since he was paying for all 15 people, he saved almost $1500 even with paying for all of the rooms. That kind of savings was hard to ignore so he decided to try it and afterwards, he said it was so easy, he would do it again in a heartbeat:thumbsup2.

Where I was looking and what made DH choose Days INN so far.

I will check this out. My BFF lives 5 min from GRR but like you said it's cheaper to fly from DTW. For us it's about 200.00 savings flying from dtw vs. Columbus, OH and I can probably get BFF to drive to DTW and stay with us so we can all fly out together.
