has antone here ever driven to Orlando from Detroit area? How long did it take you? Did you stop overnight or drive straight through? We will have a 2 year old with us so I am just wondering what the trip is like. What was your driving scheduale like? Any thoughts would be appreciated. :cool2:

We drove down a few spring breaks ago. I believe driving time to Orlando was somewhere around 17 hrs (but we were driving REALLY fast). We left on a Thursday night, stopped just south of Cincinnatti (Florence, Kentucky) at a Best Western which I highly recommend. We got on the road around 7am and made it to Cordele, GA which is just north of Valdosta. We spent the night at a Hampton in Cordele. The next morning we got up around 8am and were at Disney by 1pm or so...

My family has done it from Detroit and from northern Michigan. We in evening and drive through to Valdosta GA. From Detroit its 16-17 hours. Spend the night and your only few hours from Disney and will be fresh for your first day. My DD age 5 sleeps all night then watches movies, plays and occupies herself quite nicely. Saves a ton of money. Its just me and DH who trade driving every 3-4 hours and we do fine.

We usually drive to WDW and will be doing it again in June. Dave Hunters "Along I-75" is an excellent resource. We take 2-3 days to drive down (I am the only driver), and I never make reservations for a hotel on the way down or back. We have made several trips without a dvd player, but I'm going to use one on this trip. Pack air freshner and wet wipes. We also have 1 suitcase for the drive so we don't have to unload everything. :yay:

I haven't driven, but I am always able to find cheap airfare from Detroit. We always fly from 49 to 59 each way. I check everyday. We are able to get these fares on Spirit/Northwest/Airtran and Southwest has a nonstop now too!

I High school my family took a trip and we drove it in a day. My grandparents stop in GA.
