Determining which Vistana section a timeshare exchange is in

Hi, all!

I know that this has been addressed here before, but I couldn't get the search function to work, so I couldn't find a thread on this.

If I want to trade into the Vistana Resort (the older one, not the Villages), how can I determine which section I might get? I know that the unit configuration (whether it sleeps 6 or 8, for example) and the check-in dates (Friday, Saturday, or Sunday) limit which sections you might get. So, does anyone know which unit configurations and check-in dates might put you into the oldest sections, and which ones give you a newer section? Are there any one-bedrooms in the oldest sections, or does booking a one-bedroom guarantee a newer unit? Also, do the resort codes in II tell you which section you might get?

Oh, a couple more things -- where can I sign up for the Diamond check-in service? Does being a Starwood Preferred Guest help in any way?

Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks! :thumbsup2

Sections at Vistana OLDEST to NEWEST : Courts, Falls, Spas, Palms, Springs, Fountains I, Fountains II, Lakes, Cascades

Only "sleep 6" two bedrooms are in Courts and Falls. All other two bedrooms in other sections are "sleep 8". One bedrooms are only in the Lakes and Cascades---which are newest sections.

Friday check-in : Spas, Palms, Springs, Fountains I & II, Lakes, Cascades

Sat check-in : Courts, Palms, Springs, Fountains I & II, Lakes, Cascades

Sun check-in : Falls, Palms, Springs, Fountains I & II, Lakes, Cascades

To sign up for Diamond Lane --->

Not sure being a Starwood member will necessarily help with RCI/II exchanges, but it can't hurt to mention that you are one on the Diamond Lane request form.

Hope this helps :)

Thanks, Maria, I was looking for that post as well, (and will archive this one.) One quick clarification: does this

Only "sleep 6" two bedrooms are in Courts and Falls.

mean that all 2BRs in Courts and Falls sleep-6, or are some also sleep-8?

Hi Brian ~

The Falls are all "sleep 6". Only "twin" beds in guest bedroom (and sleeper sofa in living room).

The Courts are a little different as far as unit options. The 2 bedrooms do only have "2" TWIN beds in second bedroom (and then the sleeper sofa in the living room), so they would be a "sleep 6".
But the Courts offers a townhouse unit which includes an open loft with a second sleeper sofa on that level. So they would qualify as a "sleep 8".

If you are doing an exchange and get the Courts and need a "sleep 8", I would make sure with the exchange company that you were getting the loft townhouse unit.

Hope this helps Brian :)

Unless I'm mistaken, RCI doesn't confirm a specific section in Vistana. But, it sounds as though a sleep-8 Saturday check-in *might* be in Courts, but probably isn't.

Hopefully, as the various HOAs continue with their major refurbishments, this will become less of an issue.

Hi Brian....
You could be right about RCI. Honestly, haven't done an exchange with them since 1999----but that year, we did have a section and villa number on our confirmation sheet. But things could have changed since then.

Yes....if you have a sleep 8 exchange and get the Courts, I would seriously question it at check-in. Of course, if you get the loft townhouse (if I understand correctly, there aren't too many of these larger units), then it wouldn't be an issue.

And the Courts association is one at Vistana that will "entertain" the idea of a major rehab. I believe that association, along with the Cascades, is meeting in December to discuss it.

I do know the ones that are a "go" for sure on the rehabs are: Lakes (complete), Fountains I & II (complete by Sept'ish), Springs and Falls (both will be done in early to mid 2009).

We traded into vistana and asked for cascade. We were lucky enough to get it. I think next time we will try for lakes or fountains II. Cascades is newest, but the pool are is very busy.

You're right.....over the years, I have always told people here on the DIS that the Lakes is my favorite. It is more quiet and peaceful area of the resort from my experiences. The Vistana resort is sort of divied into two. Lakes/Fountains I & II on one side (quieter) and Cascades and all other sections on the other side. Always seems more bustling over on that side.

Glad u got your request though and hope u had a nice time luvdisney14.

Thank you, Maria! This is exactly what I was looking for! :cheer2: I will save this thread to my computer.

Hi, Brian! :wave2: (Waves to fellow Ann Arborite.)

I called the resort yesterday and a very nice lady took my preferences and added them to our reservation. We may not get them but it is worth a try.
