Dh and I sat down tonight to discuss our upcoming trip. We are doing the land/sea and have added additional nights at POR for 7 nights in Disney, 4 nights on the cruise mid October. But, I really, really want to do the dining plan! We go on trips several times a year, but this is truly a once in lifetime trip for us. I want to eat without looking at prices and choose the great resturaunts and character meals without regard to price. We can't book the DDP with the land/sea though. So we discussed tonight separating the reservations....and hope for a *great fall deal. I know they won't do free dining again...but it should be something good! (Right?? Isn't there typically a great fall deal?)

I am rambling, but I guess my question is your thoughts on separating in the hopes of a great fall deal that would include hotel, tickets and dining. Right now that portion would be $2380.90 for four, staying value with free dining. Do you all think a better deal will come along than that? :confused3

I'm not asking for a sure thing...I just know that those of you here know the patterns better than I do! Thanks for your thoughts. :thanks:

I was just asking about how to book a cruise for a friend and a very good friend of mine has gone on 3 Disney cruises. He mentioned in his email to make sure to book your room and cruise as a package through DCL because if the cruise is delayed for whatever reason, DCL picks up the tab for the room. You're going in October as well...

Here's what he wrote:
Yes we did. It was easy. I did it by calling since we were adding hotel
stay at WDW before and after the cruise. If they are planning on staying at
WDW before or after their cruise, have them call Disney CL directly and book
through them the hotel rooms. It may be a bit more than you could find on
line for room rates, but if the cruise is delayed or something, DCL will pay
for extra nights since you booked it as a package. If they book separately,
and the cruise is delayed, they will have to pay for the hotel. This
happened on our first cruise due to the hurricane and we had to pay for our
extra nights since we had booked our hotel rooms ourselves.

That being said - I have priced out both, booking cruise and WDW together and separately and separately always comes out the $$ winner. If you are willing to take your chances, I think separately is the way to go.
