....I guess some people call it a silent auction or a Chinese auction....you buy a bunch of tickets and walk around the venue looking at the prizes. You can put as little or as many of your tickets into a container next to each prize, and later in the evening they pick a ticket out of each container to decide the winner of that prize...it's a great fundraiser but a lot of work, especially getting people and companies and stores to donate stuff....

We call that a penny auction here. Funny how it's the same thing, but different names. Of course, we should probably change the name now since we don't have pennies anymore!
