All,
We got our vacation planning DVD this week, and I have to say it is far and away the best promotional tool WDW has ever created. This thing is wonderful.
For those of you who don't have yours yet, here's a rundown on the DVD content via its menu:
VIDEO TOUR (running time approx 43 min)
- Intro
- Magic Kingdom
- Epcot
- Pal Mickey
- Disney Studios
- Animal Kingdom
- Fastpass
- Downtown Disney
- Water Parks
- Tickets
- Recreation
- Resorts
- Packages
- More Disney Fun (Vero Beach, DCL, etc.)
FUN FOR EVERYONE (each "chapter" below is about 2-6 mins)
- Grand Gatherings
- Disney Cruise Line
- Big Thrills (look at thrill rides)
- Fun For Little Ones
- GrownUp Fun
- Live Shows
- Meet The Characters (greeting locations, character meals)
- Recreation & Relaxation
ATTRACTION PREVIEWS (1-2 min pieces on individual attractions)
- Mission: SPACE
- Asia
- Cirque Du Soleil
- Dinosaur
- Kilimanjaro Safari
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Splash Mountain
- Test Track
- The Haunted Mansion
- Tower of Terror
RESORTS (Video Tour, Floor Plans and Photo Album for EVERY resort including Pop Century and Saratoga Springs)
MAPS (Starts with main WDW resort map, and you can click on different park/resort areas to zoom-in)
There is also a PLAY ALL menu item that will sequentially run you through the entire DVD.
All-in-all there has to be at least 90 minutes worth of video content on this disk. The main Video Tour is similar in format to the VHS/DVDs that they have been producing for years, although most of the content is brand new. Some of the content will overlap--for example, the Video Tour (MK) and "Fun For Little Ones" sections both have 20-30 second pieces on Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin. Also, those who got the DVD last year will recognize many of the "Attraction Previews". But overall I would have to give Disney an A+ for this presentation. A great "Disney Fix" for those between trips, and much more informative than in years past for those in the planning stages.
The package also includes several printed materials:
Vacation Planning Guide - The typical insert: Maps, Resorts, Packages, Prices.
Grand Gatherings - VERY brief summary of some of the special events available.
Preschoolers Guide - Brief info on kid-friendly attractions at each park, stroller rental, water park offerings, etc.
