Drink of the Day: Calm Voyage
Ahhhh, a day at sea!!! Nothing is better! I woke up that morning and went up to Topsiders by myself for some cantaloupe and fresh air. What a gorgeous day! Hot, as the Caribbean should be, but also nice and breezy.
Jay, Dee, Beth and I decided to check out the Dazzling Desserts class at 10:15 in Studio Sea. Chef Vinny was whipping up some white chocolate mousse domes. It was fun to watch, but I really wish they had the capacity to make these classes more interactive. It would be really fun to get the chance to do the stuff yourself. Anyway, after a sampling of the domes and a small tasting of some Rosa Regal (my husbands favorite champagne!), class was over and we were on to our next mission.
At 11am we all went to Oceaneer Club to watch Cady participate in the Do-Si-Do with Snow White, an activity which Cady had been excited about for MONTHS prior to the cruise. Unfortunately, at the last minute, Cady decided she had had enough of the Oceaneer Club and did not want to stay for Snow White. Oh, well. Maybe next time.
Beth, Cady, Heather and Dee went up by the Mickey Pool (which was so, CRAZY busy and full of little kids!) and David, Jay and I headed down to Quiet Cove. We got there just in time to hear the horn blow at noon and scare the crap out of everyone in the pool. (A favorite past time of mine!) We did some swimming and hot-tubbing and enjoyed the gorgeous sunshine.
By 1:15 Jay and David had to go get ready for their Margarita and Tequila Tasting (which we had purchased tickets for on Day One at Guest Services.) Beth, Dee and I went to Cake and Plate Decorating, while Heather took Cady down for a nap. The class was ok, but I had the same feelings about this one, in that I wish it were more interactive. I bailed out of the class early because Dee and I wanted to go see Ratatouille in the Buena Vista Theater and I wanted to get out of my wet swim clothes. I ran down to the cabin and changed and met Dee outside the theater at 2:20 for the 2:30 showing and it was ALREADY FULL! Not a seat in the theater! I guess wed have to pass on the movies. Instead, we opted for a quick stop into the gift shops and then we had a seat out on Deck 4 to read our magazines and write postcards. In the meantime, Jay and David had decided to do the walking ship art tour so Dee and I headed off to Movie Jackpot Bingo in Rockin Bar D. I do love me some Bingo! Unfortunately, Melanie did NOT call our numbers and Dee started to get hysterically irritated, mumbling under her breath, I HATE you, Melanie. Call B-2, B-2!!!!!! It was too funny. SO, we had fun, even though the only thing that was movie about bingo was that at the end they raffled off some cheap High School Musical 2 beach balls and a couple of DVDs and books.
After our lack of luck at Bingo, we headed back to the cabins to start getting dressed for formal night. Not being one to turn down free drinks, we stopped by the Captains Cocktail Party in the lobby before heading into The Golden Mickeys. The show was adorable, as always. Post-show, we decided on more free alcohol and went back down to the lobby for a second round of drinks. This is where we ran into Rachel, the best cruise director in the world. We chatted with her for a bit, took some cute photos and then went to The Promenade Lounge to chill out before dinner.
After hanging out in the lounge for a bit, we headed into dinner at Lumieres. For starters, I had the tomato basil soup, which was great! Jay couldnt stop singing the praises of the escargot. No snails for this gal, though! For my entrée, I had the beef tenderloin which was so tender that you didnt even need a knife! Jay loves the lamb and the scallops. Since we all love the whole dessert menu at Lumieres, we all had a bit of everything. My favorites were the apple tart and the Grand Manier soufflé.
Stuffed, we waddled out of Lumieres and went to change out of our dress clothes. It seemed like everyone was exhausted and decompressing that night so we took it easy. Jay went to bed. Beth, Heather, Dee and Cady turned in too. David and I stopped into Rockin Bar D for some of the Golden Mickeys After Party. They we hit Deck 10 and caught a bit of Monday Night Football, before I grabbed a soda and headed down to bed. Tomorrow we would wake up in one of the most beautiful place in the world, Grand Cayman.
