Destination Wedding

Some great locations I didn't even know existed and I was not aware Disney had a wedding planning board, a great resource as I do love Disney:love:

Scotland might be a little far but I had thought of Paris!

A couple of weeks ago I was looking at the Sandals website, and believe I saw that they offer weddings for free (partnered with Martha Stewart if I remember correctly). I am married so I didn't look too closely. Their packages are up to 65% off through the end of the month, so I was considering them for a trip.

Good luck!

I hadn't even thought of Sandals for a wedding! Looks like they partnered with Martha Stewart, which is interesting! I'll have to check out their packages but it seems they do alot of the work for you:goodvibes

If you've ever thought that the Dis was contentious, FYI, we have nothing on the "fights" that can happen on the knot (or any wedding planning message board) in their forum section. Just so ya know.

It is easy to get married their. We wrote to the Govenor to get approval. We needed to set up residency for 10 days prior to the ceremony and pay for a stamp from the Govenors office.

That doesn't sound easy at all. Writing to a governor? Staying there for 10 days BEFORE the wedding? Especially since the OP said she only has a week for vacation, it sounds pretty complicated.

:) While I was planning our wedding, I met a woman whose fiance's family was from France. They wanted to be married there, but it turns out France was one of the places where it's VERY complicated to get married there. She ended up just going there on her honeymoon, because even with family there they couldn't get it worked out.

Now, they might have just not been too bright (I kept mentioning "why not get legally married here, then have a church ceremony there that's not for legal purposes", and they just could not understand what I was saying), and maybe it's simple, but that's the knowledge I have from people who wanted to do it.

I think that it's important to figure out what YOU TWO want. For me, a beach would be awful; the sound of the surf acts as white noise and makes me deaf (I'm already dealing with tinnitus), sand makes me unhappy, the thought of dead jellyfish and live crabs on the beach makes me shudder, and our wedding involved temperatures of 100 degrees and it was all outdoors...so the whole idea of a beach wedding makes me just want to hurt someone. When we do a vow renewal, it'll be indoors. :) But that's me.

What do you guys want?

We got married in Ocho Rios Jamaica in 2007. We loved our wedding and had 60 guests decide to join us. They still talk about what a great time it was.

I have since helped a ton of DW brides with their weddings. I highly recommend this site, www.all-inclusivebride.com Also feel free to PM me with questions or for advice. Best Wishes!

I married my husband at the Boardwalk Gazebo in Disney six years ago. It was both of our second marriages and we both came with children, so we wanted to include them while keeping it small with no work - just pure enjoyment.

We took their smallest package which was very affordable - then we purchased a small photography package and I think you will be surprised -- I definitely was.

Plus, Disney gave us some wonderful extras that made us feel very special. We are lifers now... it's definitely our favourite place in the world!

Thank you all for your responses, being from the midwest I would love a tropical wedding but thinking of just doing the ceremony since in some places it is a bit cumbersome, but still researching.

I've seen some beautiful Disney weddings including bride and groom in a carriage, truly fairylike:goodvibes
