Desserts w/ kid CS Meal

I have a 7 and 4 year old on the meal plan for our trip in Mid-May. I've looked at the CS menus and I see they offer a choice of 2 (applesauce, grapes, carrots) with most meals. Are those choices considered part of the dessert? Or do the kids get to choose something as a "true dessert"? My kids inherited a sweet tooth from their mom.

Any shared experiences would be appreciated!

They usually offer some sort of a combination of the following: applesauce, sugar free jello, chocolate pudding, or a chocolate chip cookie...I have never had much luck when trying to get one of the adult dessert offerings. :confused3

It also depends on the CS place. Some give you the dessert in addition to two sides. Some say the dessert is one of the two sides. The cookies are pretty good, though, and DH and I used to get them sometimes because they pack and travel well!

Ask a CM when you get there and hopefully they will tell you how the CS "really" works. It's taboo to explain how it really works on this board. Adult CS vs Child CS. Same thing

Thanks for the input. I guess when I get there I will ask for the dessert for the kids in addition to their meal. It says they get a combo meal and dessert so that's what they should get. They'd be fine with cookies so I hope it works out for them. If they don't get it, I'm sure they won't go hungry. I'll just have to share my dessert

I know what you mean...I did the same thing...I just can't imagine eating chocolate cake in front of my kids and giving them sugar free jello (or even a choc chip cookie, for that matter)....it is DISNEY WORLD, the happiest place on earth...my kids would NOT be very happy with that situation :rotfl2: What were the execs thinking?????

It means it is a loop-hole in the CS credits...however, to describe it on these boards is against board policy and will cause the thread to be locked.

OK, I'll go there. Of course, this is not the way the plan was intended to be used and is against the DDP rules and children must order from a child's menu whenever such menu is available. The CS credits are not separated into adult and child, you could, in theory only, use all of your CS credits to purchase all adult CS meals provided you don't order more adult meals at one time than you have adults listed on your card. However, here on the Dis, we do not advocate cheating or using dining credits in any way other than their intended purpose. ;)

I found it easiest to just tell the CM at the CS that you are on the DDP before you order. They will generally walk you through as you order. Meaning when you order an adult meal, they will ask you what you want to drink and what you want for desert. Then on the kids menu, if that particular CS offers a desert with the kids' meal they will ussually mention it. If not just ask "does that come with desert". Telling the CM before hand also makes it easier for the CM to enter your order.
