Desserts @ Via Napoli

The dessert menu doesn't look like the type of things we would like. I know sometimes they don't list everything that they actually have. Has anyone had more traditional types of desserts there? Thanks

The only dessert I had there was the fried ricotta cheese balls with chocolate sauce and whip cream (forgot the name of it)....let me just say that I had died and gone to heaven....they were that good. As for the more traditional desserts, I forget what was on the menu but I am betting that they had a gelato of some sorts, I mean being an Italian restaurant and all

Tiramisu is about as traditional as it gets. So if you want tradizionale try that. They do it really well.

My husband had this same dessert and raved over it! It looked SO good, but between lactose intolerance and no gallbladder, there is no way I could touch it.
I think both kids got tiramisu. It is one of their favorite Disney deserts.

They were zeppoles. My DH had them last time we were there. He thought they were good, even though he's not really a dessert eater.

This past May we also had the Zepolle?, which were good. And we decided to have a simple scoop of Pistachio Gellato, and as boring as that sounds it was great!!!

We had the zeppoles too-they were great. Like little balls of fried dough you can dip in chocolate and whipped cream.

I'm having this same problem. Ricotta goes in my lasagna so I'm having a hard time thinking of it in a dessert.

Ever had a cannoli? They are always filled with a sweet ricotta filling. And ricotta cheesecake is a classic dessert. Ricotta whipped into a sweet cream with vanilla, milk and sugar is the base for many, many Italian desserts.

RICOTTA FILLING FOR CANNOLI
2 lbs. Ricotta cheese
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
2 to 3 tsp. vanilla
Chopped candied fruit (as much as desired)
Miniature chocolate bits or grated chocolate (as desired)

Whip Ricotta in electric mixture until smooth and light. Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Fold in fruits and chocolate. This filling recipe is enough for about 2 dozen shells. Fill only just before ready to serve. Sprinkle powdered sugar over the tops.

I haven't had a cannoli. I am very picky, though I am trying to expand my horizons. What you are describing does sound good though. Kind of like taking heavy whipping cream and turning into a sweet whip cream. Thanks for the info!

I wanted my DS then 10 or so to try my cannoli. He asked what it was and I told him to try it and then I would tell him. Because it was dessert he tried it and I had to pry it from his hands to get another bite Then I told him it was ricotta cheese like in my lazagna which he didn't like. He was shocked. It is a very differant taste! The ricotta in the zeppole is what makes it fluffy. Without it it would be a donut hole. Good but not GREAT!
