Desserts to go from TS

As I mull over the DxDP v. DDP, I'm struggling a little with the thought of 3 TS meals in 1 day for at least for 1 day, maybe 2. (We're not going to the parks on 1 day of our trip, so the DxDP credits would pile up just a touch.)

I'm not as concerned about the amount of food as I am the time spent in the restaurant, esp. if they're running behind to seat us and b/c we'll be park hopping, so added travel time.

So I'm wondering if we could finish our entrees up and simply order our desserts to go and get the check. I'm thinking that would not only save us some time, but might actually mean we'd enjoy our desserts more an hour later if we were getting full at lunch or dinner!

Yes you can get the desserts to go. However note that some/most don't travel well. In the Florida heat everything starts to melt. So if you plan to do this be aware of this fact. Also if you are not going straight back to your resort, they don't do well at all!!! ;)

Concur with the above. You can get desserts to go at most places, but you need to be very cognizant of how fragile and/or perishable the dessert is. I did find that the LTT ooey-gooey chocolate cake kept quite well (without the ice cream, of course) for a later snack.

Sure, I figured that. No ice cream or creme brulee to go! But perhaps some cakes would travel. And I grew up in FL, so no worries about the heat-melting effect on everything & everybody. :)

Just figured it would be an option to keep in the back of my mind for a) being too full or b) feeling a little pressed for time at the end of the meal. Sometimes all I need is an hour and then I could nibble again. So we wouldn't need to carry anything for too long.

Or try to get into the Signatures which would use up 2 of your meal credits in one sitting. Then you aren't so pressured to eat three big meals (or three long sit down meals) each day.

Yup, we've got Cali Grill, Narcoosee's and Le Cellier planned. The problem is really that day off from the parks . . . that makes the credits on at least 1 day pile up just a touch . . . I'll have to post my schedule somewhere once I figure it out! :)

I've had some TS desserts packed up to take-Apple, caramel tart or something is the one I recall.

You can also speed things up at the restaurant by ordering everything at once.

You know that day that you are not in the parks, you can still use your credits at the different resorts, right? We always do non-park days and enjoy going to the different resorts to eat.

I frequently get my desserts to go. However, at California Grill I was told none of their desserts travel well and they have a chocolate cake, that they specifically offer as their to go dessert. I didn't want cake and asked if I could then get a cheese plate to go as my dessert. The waiter said no problem and that people also frequently choose that as a to go dessert. Since then, I've gotten cheese plates at several restaurants as my to go dessert. Just another option.

Yes, we are doing a restaurant on a non-park day, but we'll be in another town for most of it. :)

Don't like cheese enough I'm afraid. :) But maybe DH . . . .

We got the smores cheesecake from WCC to go once. But we were heading straight back to CR via boat & had a fridge to put it in. Was soooo good for breakfast next morning, lol.
