Desserts saved for snacks later?

I am considering the Quick Service Dining Plan. The dessert is kind of throwing me off because I know we will not eat dessert with lunch, and it's not likely that we will ALL eat dessert with dinner.

Does anyone have any ideas of "dessert items" that we could get with our meal that would keep well in the heat and could be used as a snack later in the day? We may even carry a small ice chest, so even if it were something that would stay cold enough in an ice chest.

Thanks!

brownies
fruit bowl
yogurt (if you have the ice chest)
cracker jacks (at Casey's Corner)

We are doing QSDP in a few weeks and DH and I plan on splitting our lunch credit and just ordering fruit with our lunch meals. There are many places on the QSDP that have super-sized portions that you could comfortably split between two adults and save the extra credit for a breakfast.

We had the regular dining plan, so I would want to confirm this, but at the RESORT if you used CS credits for lunch or dinner and didn't want a dessert right then they would stamp your receipt so you could come back later. It's meant for ice cream, but they didn't care what we got. (We were at Pop.) Once we redeemed our stamped receipt they would rip it so the stamp was ripped in half to know that we'd redeemed it. Many people saw us do it and were shocked because they didn't know anything about it.

Hope that helps!

We just recently return from Disney and we also were a family of five on the quick serve dining plan. We shared most of our meals because there was always to much food. I had two children in the group (4 & 7) and three adults (12 year old daughter). We never were hungry and on the last day had 27 snack credits left to spend in Goofy's candy shop. We usually got fruit for dessert. The hotels have apples/carmel, grapes, and mixed fruit in nice containers. We took these desserts with us during the day. We loved the quick serve plan.

we usually get the chocolate cake or the cake with sprinkles for snacks later. They are in a bowl and sealed so they are easy to carry.

Not sure if you noticed but in case you didn't, those tiny bowls are marked as 2 servings of 220 cals EACH SERVING! :scared1:

As soon as I saw that I started looking for other options as dessert.

Don't you just love those snack size servings???

In any case there's plenty of times the dessert comes in a prepackaged container. Like if the kids get applesauce or grapes you can store them for later. And at the resorts like pop, you can get packaged mickey rice krispy treats, bag of chips, or some sort of snack as your dessert. And the best part is when they have self serve ice cream at the resorts (like Wilderness lodge)... I love trying to do a swirly thing and always end up with too much... but we also make rootbeer floats from some of the ice cream (using our refill mug). We did that last year when we stayed at the lodge... we had so much food from that lunch, plus we were there when they were making cookie for decorating, which was fun too.

And you can always hit up the main street bakery for some yummy yummy treats that have enough calories for one day.

Is this good anywhere else? That would be fantastic! And, if it is just at resorts, does it have to be the same resort where you got the stamped receipt?

We were at POP, so I know for sure it works there. I would take a look at the DDP rules in the other section, someone there might know the answers to your questions! :goodvibes

Sorry, but I find the CS snacks really bad. The only ones that taste good, in general, are the ice creams. There are exceptions of course. The desserts at Sunshine Seasons are all quite good. The desserts (muffins) at the Pepper Market can be saved for breakfast the next day. But, in general, the desserts are not even worth eating IMO. We usually end up throwing them out and then feeling bad about wasting it.

If you go to Earl of Sandwich, the cookies/brownies are snacks as well as desserts. IF you happen to be there early enough, they sometimes have the muffin tops left & you can get them for b'fast the next morning. YUM!

We just returned from our trip using the QS plan. Most of the time we asked to use the dessert credit for an extra beverage when we shared a meal, and they let us, no problem.
