Has anyone done "Desserts Around the World" ???

Not really, but if you go to Norway, try the Rice Dream, it is delicious. :)

Not YET, but you've just given me a great idea for an upcoming trip. Let's see-
Mexico-I always skip because we live so close to the actual country
Norway-School Bread (?)
China-don't they have some bean ice cream
Italy-cannoli
Germany-apple strudel or black forest cake
US-funnel cake
Japan-Kaki Gori
Morocco-baklava
France-peach tart or Napoleon
United Kingdom-shortbread cookies
Canada-chocolate in store

Looking back at this, I think I need a group with me to share or else do this over 2 or 3 days.

This is a fantastic idea! Great for sharing, too. I'd have to think about this one - but would definitely have a Kaki Gori in Japan.

Yes we have. There were 4 of us and we did split everything we got
Mexico-churro
Norway-rice cream
China-we skipped
Germany-Black Forest Cake
Italy-Tiramisu
American Adventure-funnel cake
Japan-also had to take a break here
Morroco-baklava
France-Napoleons!!!
UK-walkers butter cookies
Canada-beaver tail

It was alot of food though and a few too many sweets for my liking. We did share one of these between the four of us at each stop.

Have had the school bread. I didn't think it was that great.

Our favorite place for dessert is in France. We will eat our big meal somewhere else and then go to their bakery for dessert.

I miss the beaver tail stand over by Canada. That used to be a "must" for me. I wanted a funnel cake, but every time I saw a stand we were either going to a big meal or I had just finished one.

Over the course of four trips I've attempted to do the "Desserts around the World." Here's what I've had so far...

Mexico--churros every trip--dh loves them

Norway--1) schoolbread for me--not as good this past trip but always good before then 2) almond kringla--very good, especially when taken back to the room and warmed in a microwave 3) veiled maiden--not good 4)raspberry cheesecake--tasty, but too light and airy for my preference

China--nothing yet

Germany--1) apple strudel--good but not outstanding 2) german chocolate cookie--amazing and HUGE!

USA--nothing yet

Japan--kaki gori--kids loved it, very fruity and flavorful, not like your standard snowcone

Morroco--bakalava--regular walnut the first time, tiny piece and dried out, pistachio the second time, pretty tasty

Italy--1) tiramisu for dh--he loved it 2) some kind of vanilla cream for me, OK but not great

France--1) always get the cheesecake, it's wonderful 2) peach tart--not exciting, tasted OK but don't need it again 3) sacristan--amazing the first two times I had it but on this last trip it didn't have the custardy filling it's had before, disappointing 4)I think dh has had a chocolate cake from here, too, but I don't recall much about it

UK--takeout Stickey Toffee Pudding from R&C, unusual flavor that was quite good, not a must-do, but pretty tasty

Canada--nothing yet

That's the best we've been able to do on our dessert expedition. This past trip it left dh with a terrible upset stomach, so maybe we've been overdoing it??? Nah, you can't have too much sugar at WDW! :rotfl2:

What about the rest of the "world" (the resort restaurants and the other parks) ???????????

What about the rest of the World? Well, that's even more sugar to talk about...

Here's more that comes to my mind...

B&C at the Beach Club--we LOVE the No Way Jose sundae! We've also had the strawberry shortcake but it wasn't that great.

The Volcano dessert at RFC is always a winner!

At one time I found a blueberry cobbler cake at the Main Street Bake Shop which was scrumptious but on our last trip it had been taken off their menu.

The dole whip float in MK always gets raves on the boards, but I found it just OK.

I've had the strawberry shortcake at Mrs. Potts in Fantasyland and it was as close to a Dairy Queen flavor as you can get. Not what I wanted.

We all love a Mickey Bar, anytime, anywhere. The cookies and cream mickey sandwiches are really yummy, too.

Not a dessert per se but the strawberry soup at 1900 Park Faire is wonderful!

Dh likes Pop Century's Twinkie Tiramisu because it's unique.

We all liked the ice cream sandwiches from the Main Street Bake shop. They're huge and a good deal for the money. I think ours would've been even better if the cookies had been a tad softer.

I'm getting stumped right now trying to think of all the desserts we've had. If I can recall some more standouts I'll come back and post later. I'm all about sweets on vacation!
