I have a question for you guys. As you all know, my DW and I are planning a VR for Dec 2009. We are thinking of different things to do for our family while we are there. It is my in-law's very first time ever to go to WDW, and we want to make it REALLY special. We are thinking about doing a dessert party after the ceremony. Which one would you guys recommend??? Fantasmic or Illuminations??? And does anyone know general prices for around 10 people, or know where I could get that information??? I would appreciate it so much!!!

I think if you are tying it in as a part of your wedding day festivities, the Illuminations dessert party is really lovely. You will get some beautiful photographs and feel like they are shooting off the fireworks just for you! However, we chose to do the Fantasmic dessert party two days before our wedding as a kind of "welcome party" and absolutely loved it! My thinking was similar to yours - I wanted a way to kind of show off Walt Disney World to the guests that had never been there! "Fantasmic" was a great introduction to the magic of walt disney world, IMO!

From reading other threads, I keep seeing a minimum of 20 people. Is this required to have one?

With 10 people I believe the only locations that you would be able to have an Illuminations DP is at Morocco or the Japan terrace.

Which one would you guys re***mmend? Which one has the best view of the fireworks? Does anyone have any pictures??

Out of those two locations Moroco would have the better view (I think) because you are right on the lagoon where as in the Japan Pavilion/terrace you are back away from the lagoon in the pagoda thingy. Hope that makes sense.

I had mine on the Morocco Terrace. The CMs there said they think it's better than Japan. My guests went on and on about how wonderful it was. I would love to do a Fantasmic! party one day too. I think if you have a number of kids I would lean towards that.
Here are a few pics... I don't have many because we were a bit pictured out!

The Morocco location looks lovely! Did you have any seating/chairs? This location was given to me as one of my locations for my DP, but I had heard you could not have tables and chairs there. But...my EP said I would just pay extra for the seating. Will have to double check that.

Also, I am having 10 for my DP (not wedding related) and have been booked in the Upper UK...so that might be an option for your DP. I will look over the locations in September. I have been told Lower UK is more private and I am also wondering about the Pubside location. You asked about price. I am not sure about with a VR, but with my little party, it looks like it will be about $1000. I will be doing a mix of light appetizers and desserts plus a small bar setup.

Good luck to a fellow Arkansan!

Both UK terraces have a minimum of 20 guests required to use them.

I have heard that you can not have seating at Morocco but there is a planter thingy (I know there is a better term lol) that you can sit on. It may depend on who your planner is... Disney is infamous for giving inconsistent answers!!

Actually we have a group of 14 and we're booked at Lower UK. We're just having a party and not a wedding though, so maybe that makes a difference.:confused3

We are using the Morocco Terrace for our dessert party on July 17 and have arranged for tables and chairs to be set up. The fee for this is $75.

Hope this helps.

Chantelle; I was told the same thing about the seating. It could be done for an added fee.

I really believe you can have how many people you choose at these events. My understanding is the minimum number of people relates more to the mminimum amount of $$$ we are expected to spend.

I also have wondered like Brier Rose if Disney has different rules for brides.

I will also add in that we are being charged an additional $50 small party fee for our event because there are only 13 of us. I think the minimum number of people is 20 for Morocco Terrace, but you can simply pay the additional $50 fee rather then having to pay for food for non-existent guests.

My WC just told me today that we would have to book Morocco and there are 20 of us. Funny how things vary from person to person...
