Dessert party WITHOUT wearing a gown question

So, I've read that if you are having a dessert party in Epcot you are only allowed to wear your gown if you have a guide and use Disney transportation, but let's say you change into a cocktail dress (not bridal looking but formal)? Do you still need a guide? Do you still need to use hired transportation? I guess in short, are you permitted to wear other types of formal clothing inside the park as long as it is not a bridal gown? Thanks so much in advance!

As long as your dress is not costumey or excessively skimpy, you should be fine. ::yes::

I'm not completely sure but I don't think the guide and disney transport are just about wearing your dress. Some of it is to do with you not having park tickets and just paying the viewing fee so you may still need a guide but prob not transport which is only needed for some locations anyway.

Ooh, yeah, that's a good point Claire! If any guests do not have park tickets (or park hoppers if they went somewhere earlier that day) I guess they would need the escort.

I hadn't even thought of that! :thumbsup2

Okay this is good info! Thanks. I think it's great they even offer an option for people without park tickets! I have some time but just trying to see ways to cut costs on certain things, I've heard the private transportation can get pricey!

Ask which locations you don't need transport for when you come to book as I'm pretty sure ones near the International Gateway don't require transport.

Not necessarily,

we transported our 18 guests in two passenger vans for $25 dollars each way (From SBP to AKL for dinner and back to EPCOT for our DP), so it was $100 I think if I remember correctly. We got a town car one way from AKL to EPCOT, which also was a pretty minimum charge I think.

It will depend on your guest count, the larger buses are pricier.

You're welcome! Keep in mind, policies and procedures change all the time. And sometimes it depends upon your coordinator as well (which sucks).

I remember at the time I was told it was some sort of promotion the transportation company was running with DFTW, but I know for at least a year or more after our wedding, I've heard of other DISbrides who used a van for $25 one way....

These boards are great for initial info and then you have something to go to your planner/coordinator with. :thumbsup2

Right now, one-way vans that hold 8 people are $40 apiece. Still not too shabby compared to charter transportation prices.

Even though things change over the years, it's nice to know there are more affordable options, you just need to ask :thumbsup2 I'm sure when officially planning they aren't going to lay out the cheapest options on the table first, but it's nice to know they exist (for now at least...we'll see in two years ;))! I've heard the same about different people being told different things by different planners...that must be frustrating! So much good information on here! So glad I found Disboards! :woohoo:
