OK, I just asked my planner if we could have someone box up some of the desserts for me and DF, since we'll be so busy posing for fireworks pictures at the Dessert Party that we probably won't get a chance to eat. She said that falls under the rule of no food being removed from any venue except wedding cake.

What has been your experience with this? I don't want to pay $40 for me and DF if we're not even going to get to eat!

i think malibelle handed out glad zip lock bags to her guests and they swiped the food at the end of the dp...someone defintiely did that, though i'm not 100% sure that it was her...

Thank you for asking this! I'm really struggling with the amount of food that potentially will be wasted from our DP. We have extended our DP from 10pm to 11pm. Our planner said that the food will be removed at 10pm since we paid for 1 hour of food. To me, that doesn't make sense... I'm not asking for more food after 10pm, but why can't we keep what is already there? It doesn't make sense to toss all that food!

But back to the actual topic... I know I've read TR's where the folks have been allowed to put food into Ziplocs. I honestly don't know if the Epcot guides are really going to care much...???

I'm going to get my guests to do that!! when we have paid all that money for it why on earth cant we take a few cakes home! Ok if theya re in glasses etc then far enough but I'm sure not all will be.

Everyone keeps saying to me you wont eat much on your wedding day but I keep saying when i'm paying all that money I'm eating as much as I can to enjoy it all!

I beleive mary626 brought ziplocks. I know I would. It isn't like you are going to an all-you-can eat buffet.

Ziplocs it is!!! :rotfl:

Maybe I'll stick some in the welcome bags...

You are technically not allowed to remove the food as your planner has stated but I don't think the servers will try to stop you if you do... I have never heard of them stopping anyone. You will have to pay for you and dh whether you have a lot or none, they won't be keeping tabs on who's eating and who's not.

I was going to make sure all the men had large pockets and all the women had massive handbags....:lmao:

But I guess the ziplock bags are alot more sensible....:rotfl2:

Wow, more info that is good to know. Seems unfortunate you can't keep the food you paid for...

We brought ziplock bags to our dessert party. Nobody stopped us from taking some food with us at the end of the night. :goodvibes

I remember someone posting they had brought some zip lock bags to fill up.......The lesson they learned was to bring the gallon size bags not quart size if I'm remembering correctly.

Ha ha, DF just read this and said "how about bin bags?"

On another note, how much does it cost to extend your DP? I had no idea that was possible!

Extending our DP 1 hour didn't cost any extra. We are having the food removed after the 1st hour, so really we just have the private area for an extra hour. You can pay to have the food extended, but we didn't want to do that. I didn't want to exit the park when everyone else was leaving. And I want more time in Epcot in my wedding gown! :woohoo:

We are an Intimate, so I don't know if this applies to Custom weddings.

Would you need to keep these hidden when you were leaving / hoarding (aren't they clear bags)?

Now that's interesting... when I asked about extending, I was quoted an additional charge per person. However, they must've thought I meant to extend the food service too. Now I'm interested in extending the event (sans food) for free!

I think you're right that they quoted you a per person food charge. I just didn't want to be kicked out... or escorted out... at exactly 10:00pm. Some people will leave I'm sure, but I'd like to spend a little more time there.

We brought zip lock bags and people took the coffee cups and stuff them. We had no problem taking the extras home.
