Dessert Party Help!

Okay, I have a few questions that I would like to put past you pro's out there!

We are all set to go for our intimate wedding next April, and we wanted to book an Illuminations dessert party for that evening. I called my planner and she told me of the three locations I could choose from, Japan, Morrocco, and Upper Uk.

Of the three I chose Upper UK for the simple reason that there is seating available and I have guest that NEED seating and I think it nicer to have a place to sit and enjoy your lovely desserts.

Anyhow, my planner tells me that it is not wise for me to book this spot as for someone (another party) can easily come along and bump us. This aggrivates me for a thousand reasons which are obvious (what the heck is a reservation for anyway) and tells me she would rather book us in morrocco and if UK is available at a closer time, we would take it then. So, I agreed with her and booked Morrocco, and I will now have to pay for tables and chairs to be set up.

I have a party of possibly 35 people maximum and a minimum of a definate 20.
When I look at the one pic of Morrocco that I have, it seems it will be very cramped for 20 even.

Should I call my planner back and tell her to book the upper uk anyway and take the gamble? If I am bumped will I risk being stuck in Japan (really don't want to be there) or worse, could I land no spot at all?

Has anyone out there done Morrocco?

Form what I’ve seen Morocco isn’t the best view of illuminations. If you want UK book it....I'd take the chance...Plus sometimes when you get bumped the venue moving you offers to pay for the change...That way if you do have to move to Morocco then you will have some cash for the tables

I don't know much about dessert parties and am always reading these threads to learn more myself. Are you an intimate or a custom? I am guessing with that many people (20-35), you will be a custom bride. I am not sure that intimates can have dessert parties since other intimates have posted that they were not allowed to have any kind of private party at all. I just don't want you to think you have an event planned, only to have it cancelled later on.

Say it ain't so! I am planning on having a dessert party on the evening of the wedding! My current wish book total for my intimate is about 8K.

It is in the contract that you sign with Disney that they can move you for any reason for any venue. It is the way it is. I thought we were going to get moved as well, but it turned out we were fine. I would suggest the UK lower. There is seating there as well for 20 it would be really comfortable. The upper has tables and chairs with umbrellas I believe.

Intimates can have Illuminations dessert parties! And DFTW will schedule and plan it for you. I understand that DFTW starting offering Intimates the option in the last couple of years.

It is true that they do not allow private receptions. But the DP is a-ok! We will be having ours after our dinner at the Yachtsman after our wedding ceremony. It's in our contract.
