Dessert Party Alternative?

I have sat at the location of the Dessert party for many years to watch the fireworks and I like the location.

I have been to dessert parties for special events (like the D23 anniversary party) but I haven't been to the Dessert party at the Tomorrowland location.

I have had the dining plan on past trips and felt overly desserted-out just from what came with the meals.

I've seen some ho-hum reviews about the dessert party.

I've also noticed the price increases for it.

But, I see so many people really trying to get a reservation for the Dessert Party.

I'm just wondering if anyone has ever decided to take the $25 bucks per person and grab a bunch of stuff at the main street bakery and candy shop and then go stake out a viewing spot at the train station or hub and creating your own 'no reservation needed' dessert party??

I think it sounds like a fun alternative! popcorn::

I know that either people like the idea or don't, but no matter where you "stake" out your seats it will not be secluded (or whatever you want to call the vibe) like the dessert party. I have done both (the party twice) and snacks and seats somewhere else on Main Street.

So my answer is you can attend a dessert party as such, or watch Wishes with some snacks. Whatever you do, enjoy your evening.

I totally agree! We'll be deserted-out from the DDP and snacks!

How about an ice cream cone while we wait along the curb of Main Street? Such a great view of the fireworks!

I'm glad the dessert party is available for those interested, but we'll just be hanging out on Main Street with a treat!

I know its hard to justify the cost, especially for 4 or 5 people and after eating plenty of desserts on a buffet for dinner beforehand. Imagine all of the goodies you can take home for that money? I dont know Im thinking of just going to Poly to watch fireworks and then getting a Kona Kone with my kids afterwards.

That location was where I watched Wishes for years. We would go to the Plaza and get a sundae, and then hunker down about an hour before Wishes began...it was such a nice, relaxing spot. I am disappointed that I can no longer sit there anymore as I have no desire to spend that much money on dessert. Oh well...

I did it to do it and when I did it was last Aug and it was $16.00. It was a lot of money then for what you got in my opinion.

We visiting WDW in June with a party of 10 and decided to skip the dessert party. My mom is diabetic, so she wouldn't be able to enjoy the desserts the way the rest of us could. We have two 11 year olds who are priced as adults but eat like birds. We will do exactly as you say and grab us some snacks, find a seat in/around the hub, and enjoy the snacks while we wait for the fireworks--besides, my kids really prefer popcorn, churros, and funnel cakes to fancy desserts. We have always done similar with Illuminations w/ pastries from France. I think it should work for MK fireworks as well...

Don't get me wrong, I think it is a fun 'special' experience. I also think that if it's a one time trip for your family, it might be a great thing to try.

Maybe it's just that I sat at that location (usually all alone) for YEARS and it is a nice location, but I'm not going to pay for it. I think the dessert options look delicious as well, but can I get over $20 in value out of them? ...nah.

I think that if you do it, you have to do it for the experience and not for the value. But if you are really familiar with Disney, you know a lot of free places to watch the fireworks and a lot of really amazing sweet treats to enjoy and still have a wonderful time!

that was our "spot" too... and i've done the wfdp and loved it... i would definitely do it again, but not on a night we're having ts dinner... i'm hoping to do it when we have ts b'fast and cs lunch/dinner...
