help i'm going to a barbecue easter sunday and i'm doing the desserts. i was thinking of strawberry cheesecake and pavlova, i would really like to do something different for a change any ideas?

For a barbeque how about Baked Banana's?

Split the banana's, put some chocolate in, wrap in foil and bake on the Barbie. Serve with icecream.

Depends how many people you are serving I guess but I like to make chilled custard and strawberry sundays. They are so yummy!

Basically you get the custard in the cartons and chill it,
toast some chopped nuts under the grill,
chop up some strawberries and place them in the bottom of a tall glass
spoon in the chilled custard over the strawberries
add a couple of strawberries on top and a sprinkle of hazelnuts

I like the Baked banana idea but I would foil wrap them and cook them in a bit of brandy for the adults. It's a lovely taste:thumbsup2

If you can get hold of some passion fruit I would do Nigella's Ginger and Passionfruit trifle from her Express book. Whenever I do this I get embarrassed at all the lovely comments because it's sooo easy!

Cut/break up some shop bought Maderia cake (about a block and half) and place on a plate with a lip or a bowl and pour over 125ml of ginger wine.

You can get Ginger Wine from aldi for not much money. Don't be tempted to use more than 125ml thinking it's not enough as it will over power the taste.

Whisk up 600ml of double cream until thick and then stir in the seeds of 2 passion fruit.

Spoon over the soaked cake. Finally before serving spoon over the seeds of 6 more passion fruit - you could easily take these with you and add them at the last minute at the BBQ.

Trust me - it's delicious and looks amazing.

I'm pretty sure I've remembered the quantities but if you want the recipe word for word PM me and I'll check with my book at home and send you the details.

Whenever I do this I only ever seem to find the passion fruit available at Sainsburys. :confused3

Oooh I LOVE baked banana's :)

How about no cheese, cheese cake?

You need ginger nuts and melted butter for the base ( crush the biscuits add butter, put in tin and chill)
whipped double cream, lemon juice and rind and condensed milk.
Whip the cream, add the condensed milk still whipping then add the lemon juice and rind. put in fridge over night. The lemon makes it stiff and it's gorgeous :)

Chocolate cheese cake yummy ;) they have a great recipe on bbc website

or porfitrols they are very yummy as well :)

I really like the bbq biscuits you can buy from M&S to actually pop on the bbq. I'm not sure if they have them in yet; however, you could have a go at making your own. They are like two big cookie things sandwiched together with chocolate and marshmallows and are very yummy when done on the bbq. They are an alternate to usual deserts :goodvibes

This sounds too yummy

I usually do a fruit flan with cream as it is fairly light after eating lots of meat:rotfl2:

I made the cheesecake on this table at the weekend for my dad's 60th.
It's really easy and has a fancy layer of jelly on the top with fruit in that makes it look like you spent hours on it! Always a crowd pleaser lol!

My mum made the other one with almonds - slightly tricky but full of Brandy!:thumbsup2

There is only one dessert for me, Cheesecake. As soon as I meet our server on the cruise in August 1st think I will let him/her know, 2 pieces of cheesecake every evening, any flavour I don't mind. Don't care whats on the menu they have to get me cheesecake from somewhere on the ship.
Sarah, the Kiwi one looks delicious, let me know when you make the next one, will have a weekend in Bristol:thumbsup2
