Dessert Help, Please

On July 18th I am having a cookout/birthday's celebration.
I am going to make a butterfly cake, but need and idea for something sugar free. A few family members are diabetic, and any suggestions would be greatly apperciated.

Can you use Splenda instead of sugar? It is supposed to be great for baking with.

Have a great time and post a pic of the Butterfly cake, I would love to see it.

That is so cute. You should be able to find sugar free candies in the store for the decorations. I'm not sure about the Oreo's, if they make a sugar free version.

I will have to check out the splenda web site. I don't want the cake to be sugar free. Do you think that is mean? I will have something sugar free for the others just not the cake.

If it's a cookout, I am a big fan of grillled fruit.
fresh peaches, pineapple, nectarine,plum,cantalope
Sometimes we make kabobs with them

Maybe you can make one of those desserts with SF Jello and SF cool whip...like a layer of Jello on top of a layer of Whip...sometimes they make them look patriotic with Red and Blue SF Jello?

I've also seen SF cheesecake....you can make that pretty easily with Splenda.

I am on the South Beach diet and for a treat we make either instant or cook and serve sugar free pudding.

I do the following.

Banana cream pie pudding, sliced strawberries on the top and then fat free/sugar free cool whip.

Chocolate pudding with chopped walnuts and the cool whip

Vanilla pudding with a 1/2 teaspoon of Almond extract and then slivered almonds on the top with cool whip.

They are pretty good, low fat if made with skim milk and sugar free.

Your guests who are watching their weight and/or on a sugar free diet will appreciate your thoughtfulness - I would.

We love grilled fruit too. We have done peaches on cinnamon stick skewers and grilled pineapple. YUM!
