So it's open right now! Anyone there?

Official opening Monday, July 2.

My wife and kids were over there today. She said its open for testing. I wouldnt count on it being open regularly until the official opening. I think the last time that there was a new ride open, there were several delays (ie, that there were hour long stops and starts) and there was large gaps in the hours/days it was open.

Can anyone tell me if this has the express option for hotel guests?

:yay:
No...new attractions do not offer Express to anyone...at least for a while.

Remember...the attraction has not officially opened yet...it's still in test mode right now.

I just left universal yesterday :( bummer. I could see people going through the ride line they were entering from a tucked away entrance. the attendent at the ride said it was being tested, I assumed it was universal resort guests. Unfortunately I had to leave for the airport 2 hours later

My family rode it today! We got to the park at 11am. It was closed. Later in the afternoon, we walked by again and it was open with a sign saying they were running it for testing. It had a 90 minute wait and we were taking my daughters to the Victorious concert, so we couldn't try it. After the concert, it was still open. They said it was a 125 minute wait and that as long as we were in the line when they closed it, we could stay and ride. We were not in line anywhere near 2 hours. It was under an hour. 45-50 minutes at the most.

The ride is very cute. It is a motion simulated ride with 3D glasses. It reminds me of The Simpsons, but it isn't in a confined space. It is in a large room in seats with a lap bar that are moved around with the scene. We all loved it.
They did have an Express line, but I am not sure if it was open. We aren't staying at Universal either, they just opened it up and started testing it they said.

So, as expected its the same ride system as the previous 2 attractions in that space, just with 3D now

i wanna know more! Surly its not just another Shrek 4D???

I thought they said that there was an amazing finally where u get 'turned into a minion'?????

The theme is the audience is turned into a minion and the girls beg Gru to train the new minions. There is a 4D adventure of them training the audience. It is also the one year anniversary of Gru adopting the girls. It isn't like Shrek because you are not just sitting in stadium seating. There is group seating in 2 rows, sets of eight. There are 16 sets of eight facing a screen. The lap bar comes down, you are moved up where you bump, collide, crash, get a little wet and move through the ride.

I don't know if there is a sign up for Express. I just know one of my sons had to leave to go to the bathroom while we waited. He didn't return for a long time, so I went to search. They had closed the ride by then, so they said had sent him up through the Express lane to wait for us at the front.

I am willing to bet it is the SAME movie that came with the Despicable ME 2 pack DVD release. The bonus DVD was called Minion Mayhem..Same as Shrek..Shrek came in a DVD2k with the 3d version..It was the same movie they show in the park.So I was a little disappointed in the attraction/4d Show

Thanks!! Fingers crossed that we will still somehow get to ride during our trip!

Soft openings today too and it is fantastic! As of 3 PM the line was 60 minutes and there is no express.

It is fantastic!! Beautifully themed, great simulation (very with the video.... you feel like you are doing everything you see) and a touching ending. Very enjoyable!

A+++++++++++

Went to the park today - at 2am sharp the ride opened. I got in the first show, by the time I got out (2:20), the line was at 60.

Here are some pictures from the first pre-show room, and the second (the steel looking one).

I do have a panarama of the first pre show room, which I will post tomorrow.

Where does the indoor queue start?

There is no indoor queue, the first doors you enter take you to the living room type area, where you grab your glasses and are divided into rows. You see a short video, then you enter the second preshow room, gru's lab. You watch another video and then you enter the theatre.

There is no Express during technical rehearsal, ever. The ride's operational hours could be extremely variable. It might be closed for one day and open all day the next. Then it could only be open from 12-6. Or 10-2 and 4-8. You really never know. But if you get lucky and get to ride it, enjoy!
