Does anyone know where I can find a 80's prom dress in a size 18? I am doing a production of Awesome 80's prom next weekend and I cant find a dress that will fit me anywhere. I have tried Ebay, freecycle, craigslist, all my local thrift stores, called all of my relatives...I am getting desperate..!

It is supposed to be taffeta and fun....anyone know of an online store where I can buy one that wont cost me a fortune?

:rotfl2: Don't you remember in the 80's we were all a size 0 thanks to the TAB we were drinking!

My senior prom dress(1983) was Hot Pink with HUGE sleeves and your standard tier layers. but sorry I don't have it anymore and I was the size 0 then.

Now not so much!:rotfl2:
I think maybe garage sale? Or thrift shop?

How cheap is cheap? I've seen some dresses that look like they are from the 80's in David's bridal - but they are around $150

Instead of looking for a "prom dress" you need to be looking for a bridesmaid's dress. They ALL look like 80s prom dresses, no matter what era they come from.

thanks, I did look at a few bridesmaids dresses... Ill have to look again!

Sorry - size 0 here, too. I have one that's STILL at my mom's.

She tries to sell it at every garage sale she has. :rotfl2:

Try Sally's Boutique - (Salvation Army)

I agree you may have to go with the bridesmaid dress. Although isn't 80's stuff coming around again? I saw leg warmers and granny boots recently!

The 80's ARE back it seems from what I see in the catalogs and ads. But in a slightly less garish way. I haven't seen neon EVERYTHING yet. :) During softball season my sister (10yrs old) was sporting the side ponytail and it about killed me. I told her that when I was her age, that was cool and according to her and her group of friends, it's cool again?

thanks guys. I have a huge horse show this weekend, so maybe there will be a few thrift shops there....

You might want to try www.torrid.com, they have some very cool dresses don't know about neon pink but you might be able to find something 80's that is appropriate.

Good Luck and have fun!!!!!!!!!!!  :cutie:

Hmmm....My 1983 prom dress was mauve. Can't go wrong with mauve.:lmao: I had the sheer mauve wrap thing that came with it.:rotfl:

I don't know if you'd call mine mauve, or lavender.. either way I can't believe I wore it! Acres and acres of lavender chiffon and taffeta!

I went to the prom in the early 80s. I don't know where you all get the neon and tafetta from? That was not in existance in the early 80s. We were all wearing those frumpy, cotton Gunne Sax dresses (the precurser to Jessica McClintock--she was designing for them). Mine was pink cotton with little flower all over it...GAG:scared: . Anyway, this neon and taffeta must have been more "late" 80s.

Nope, think Mid-West, Napoleon Dyamite. We didn't have that kind of money.:lmao:

1983 here....

I wore a black dress to my 1985 prom. It was a classic a-line skirt, cocktail length, spaghetti straps, which would be wearable today if I still had my 18 yo figure.

I don't remember anything that tacky at my prom.

Maybe you only THINK it's not that tacky!

Aqua Net had mind altering flourocarbons in it, you know. :rotfl:

I actually had a "nice" one for the Jr. prom. I think some us just went for the "tacky" kind. Especially if your from Jersey. :rolleyes1
