Hi All,

I just joined as a DVC member and my home resort is AKL Villas. I have a few questions and am at a loss for answers right now.

1. Do most of you get AP's? I'm trying to price it out if it'd be better for us to get discounted park hoppers or AP's, but the price in the DVC Perks book is showing me a different cost than the WDW site. Am I reading the chart wrong? How much as an AP with the DVC discount?

2. Explain the issue of wait lists to me. We are trying to book for Feb. 16th to the 21st and I am concerned that I won't get a studio. Will I be wait listed? What does that mean if I am?

3. The points calculator on DVC's site is telling me I'd get a savanna view. It does not show any other options for views. I thought that this was the most expensive? Can I switch to something cheaper?

Thanks so much for your help! I love the DIS! :thumbsup2

1. DVC members do not get discounted MYW tickets (park hoppers), for any hopper discounts you'll need to order from authorized ticket seller websites, and even then the savings are not substantial.

To purchase the DVC discounted APs on line, you must order them from the click-through on the DVC member website. Remember that prices quoted on Disney operated sites normally do not include tax.

2. Wait lists can work. But they do not always come through. Basically it depends how you waitlisted (specific resort or any resort), day by day or entire stay. Plus someone holding a reservation has to cancel, or additional inventory must be added, there may be some inventory that can be added at SSR, as buildings are "declared into DVC" prior to them opening that building up for sale. Any other current DVC is likely fully sold, then next big addition to inventory will come from AVK as the Kidani rooms come online in 2009.

3. The DVC website is flaky, the calculator seems to have a bug. It tried to quote me a savannah view room at OKW the other day

We only purchase the AP if we are going to take more than one trip in that year. The savings is $100.00 off the regular price. You can order through Member Services and pay with your credit card. They will send you a voucher that you can redeem at some locations at Disney (we picked ours up at Downtown Disney). Let me explain how we maximize our use. Our start month for our points is April. We took our first trip on May 6th 2007. Our annual pass is good for 365 days. We have access to the parks until May 8, 2008. We took our second trip for the year September 9th 2007 (that used all our points for the year). When our points re-up in April 08, we still can use our annual pass for our trip May 4th 2008. So as a family we get to use our passes for 3 trips, which is a big savings from paying for MYW for 3 trips. (just a side note ....I used my AP's for 2 girls trips without the DH  ...shhhh...he might be listening!)
