Okay I am totally dissatisfied with Dell's support. I've placed 5 calls (numerous hours) with no help. They've tried several things but nothing seems to work. I'm using Windows XP and have Microsoft Plus for XP. All the screen savers that came with XP are fine but those that came with Microsoft Plus are no longer working (with the exception of the Aquarium). They used to work now they don't. I've tried a system restore (no luck), we've done a repair from the OP system disk (no luck), downloaded DirectX 9.0 (no luck) uninstalled and reinstalled the video drivers (still no luck). The error message I'm receiving is "Could not find any compatible Direct3D devices." I've ran a virus scan - all clean.

Anyone have any other suggestions. Dell was suppose to e-mail me with another solution - but I've yet to receive it.

Thanks

try microsoft for help..rather than dell....

did you try uninstalling plus..and then re-installing it...

also, do you do the updates from microsoft, they have a lot of patches to fix bugs in XP....

hey...Maleficent2

looking good as always...or is that... looking evil as always...LOL

No update as of yet. I posted from work yesterday and after work I had an appointment and didn't get home until late. I'm now at work once again. Hoping to work on the computer later today. I did reinstall Plus but that didn't work. I've not contacted Microsoft as of yet. I have downloaded some of the updates. Mostly the critical ones. We haven't had this new computer long so I've been trying to downloaded some each night after work. There were 27 updates total. Thanks for the suggestions. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

I always load the criticals, and very selective on the others. If I am not having a problem on those, I rarely add those updates, but criticals yes. Good luck.

Anyone have a 1-800 # for Microsoft support. The only toll free # that I could find wants $35 for their help. The # that allows free support is not toll free and if Microsoft keeps people on hold like Dell then my phone bill will be $$$$$. Thanks

by that I mean have you wiped you hard drive clean and reinstalled everything to the way it came out of the box?

befor you send anymore money on trying to fiqure this one out that could be an option.

After you do that install one program at a time.

try this.... go start, then run and type "dxdiag" into the box and hit ok
answer yes to the questions and then go to the display tab
Make sure that direct3d acceleration is enabled
click the button for test direct3d
