Desperate For Chef Mickjey's Please Help

I thought I had an 8:20 am resv for 5 at Chef Mickey's on 10/4. When I called to change a different resv I asked the phone person to read off my resvs. I was shocked to hear that I was actually booked for Cape May Cafe. Apparently they are right next to one another on the booking screen. This whole trip is mainly for myself, my husband, and son, but for 2 days my cousin's kids get to join us (he is kind of cheap) and I so wanted them to experience Chef Mickey's with the monorail and stuff. So if anyone is cancelling or knows of someone cancelling or wants to trade for Cape May Cafe please let me know.

FYI the Cape May Cafe has a Character Breakfast every morning. It's similar to Chef Mickey's in a lot of ways. I believe it's also somewhat quieter.

OMG! I cannot believe this happened to you TOO! I called to confirm our ARs 1 wk before our Aug 13-27 vacation. All was ok EXCEPT CHEF MICKEY'S! Like you I booked it 90days before we were expecting to go.
They put us down to Cape May where we also had an AR but the following week
Ended up I got us back at Chef Mickey's but it was a struggle

Call again, and make SURE they spelled your name right! I called to confirm my ADR at, you guessed it, Chef Mickey's, and it was nowhere to be found....on a whim, I suggested an alternate spelling of my first name, and BINGO! There it was...

When I called to cancel an ADR they asked my telephone number. The CM stated that by inputting my phone number, all of my reservations would come up which they did.

no - I honestly believe what happened to the OP happened to us
No matter how we looked (phone #, spelling out last name, etc) our Chef Mickey's res came up at Cape May - even gave them the confirmation # that was originally given to me. Yup they pushed the wrong button

That's Disney's fault then. You'd think they'd give you a new ADR for that morning, since they messed it up. I doubt one table would change that much.

I'd take the Cape May ressie over Chek Mick's anyday.

We satyed in the CR - busy week of Memorail Day weekend week - 2003.
We just wanted to eat dinner - no ADR (PS back then).
We showed up at the podium and they just gave us a beeper. We had to wait about 30 minutes- but were seated for dinner.

Mind you we had a table in a side room - a bit away from the napkin twrilling.
The characters still came around - we just said 'hello, nice to see you again, but we would just like to eat dinner, please do not be offended, but we are sure there is a boy or girl in the main room waiting for your visit'

You can even try to call while at WDW. We were able to snag a Cindy breakfast while visiting at WDW, we just called the afternoon before

They always have tables for walkups. They are not allowed to book all the tables. Ressies are not needed at any resturant, you just have to wait a little while. We called the morning of and asked what times were open and went from there. You can also send your DH early and he can call your room and you can meet him there at the given time.

Thanks for all the great tips everyone. I appreciate it. I think I will keep Cape Mays and call back each week to check if anything opens up. We may even try walking in as suggested earlier as long as the wait is not too long. I assume the earlier you go the less the wait will be.

P.S. The customer service rep told me that Cape May and Chef Mickeys are right next to one another when booking and they made the mistake. She said there was nothing they could do because they were completey booked. I agree with the comment earlier that they should go ahead and give you one, but then everyone could call and lie I guess. Then she came out and even said this happens quite often. She did redeem herself though by saying she wishes she could call me when something opened up, but they are not allowed.

Boy that's got to be frustrating! I sort of feel your pain. I've been trying to get dinner at Chef Mickeys for the beginning of October and have been calling every day, sometimes twice. Tonight, finally they had an 8:20 pm opening which I took but I'm gonna keep trying for something earlier. FWIW, I've heard great things about Cape May character breakfast. Keep trying for CM's though, hopefully something will open up! Good luck!!
