***Design Tips***

just wanted to throw a tip out there:

www.abstractfonts.com

^--has a lot of good and fun fonts and they are all free to download

just download, unzip, and move the true type font file to your fonts folder!!!

A photo program most people don't even know they have that you can do some editing in, great for firsttimers!

A lot of folks when they get a home computer get a CD in the box called Microsoft Works Suite. On there, there often is a program called PictureIt! that has one of the easiest cut-out tools that I have found on any program if you want to cut out say, a character from a larger image.

Also, if you want to try your hand at some modifying techniques but don't have the moolah for Photoshop, try this free program called ArtRage2: http://www.ambientdesign.com/artrage.html . There is also a $20 version. The REALLY COOL thing about this program is you can, for example, take a photo from a previous trip that you have scanned into your computer and with ArtRage, "paint" with the colors that are in the pictures so that it looks like an oil or watercolor painting, as detailed or abstract as you like. It's great for making really unique interpretations of existing characters!

Thank you for posting a list of sites for clipart. I think that must the be big question for us newbies, where do we find artwork?

Now I know!:woohoo:

And also a question .. I have Jasc's Paint Shop Pro 8 .. is anyone else using it that could give me a little info on how to get started ? I notice alot of people are using either photoshop or photo impact. is there that big of a difference between them ? would it be worth getting a different program? I've been looking at all of the DISigner's pages and have falling in love and want to see if it's something i could do on my own. TIA for any and all help :D

Just a head's up. The Wilton Transfer paper is not worth the time and is a waste of money. the product instructions tell you:
you don't have to reverse the design ( you do),
it also tells you to lay the image ink side up on the t-shirt, all that did was cause the partchement paper to scorch and never transfered the image
when i turned the image ink side down on the shirt and tried to iron it on after leaving the iron on the transfer per their required " 20 second" and then adding up to 5 minutes per section the paper still would not come off ot the shirt with out almost ripping it and it did not hold the color . i'm writing wilton next to get my money back what a waste of time, money and ink.

I recieved a tip that i can post on here and there are many users who will make or help make me a sign template and then i can print. Any one interested?pirate:

Can anyone tell me how to enlarge my clip art so it doesn't look HORRIBLE? I have tried everything I can think of and it still looks grainy. I am using Photoshop CS2. I loved all your designs and wanted to try some of my own. Thanks for the help!

This is great! Thanks.. just wanted to subscribe!

This question is to anyone than knows. How do you make thoses names with the characters in them? I have tried and just can't seem to figure it out. I am using Photoshop Elements 6 (trial version). Only have a few days left. If I can't figure out how to use it, I won't buy it.

Help me, please.
