Looking up our hotel for next summer (not a for sure trip but planning to give it one last go) and we have always stayed at DI&S. They have not released the July dates yet but it seems the prices on the executive/parlor suites have went up significantly. I always loved it here as it was sooooooo close, had something for breakfast (not much but it saved us a little money) and was the cheapest hotel of any of the close ones. Is the new 230 a night the norm? It was for April, May and June which blew my mind. It wasn't long ago we got an executive for $120. Now I know those days are gone but was not expecting the price to have doubled and may start to look at some other hotels. We need 3 beds at a minimum so that makes it a little tougher and cost is a factor! Any recommendations? We are not looking to spend more but would be willing to walk farther if we have to. Thanks!

I don't know as I've not been there in some time but $230/night for an executive suite doesn't sound exorbitant to me. If you look at the other comparable hotels in the area, it's probably no worse.

But I hear you on the upswing in prices! I was looking at booking my annual trip in Dec and yowza! On site prices are scary.

As DizMe said, prices have gone up quite a bit across the board. Hotel Indigo may be worth looking into. We have stayed there before and liked it...it has interior hallways (actual hotel) and free parking! No free breakfast, but the rates have always been good and the property is clean with friendly staff. The walk is about 10-15 minutes or so though, so a downgrade compared to direcrly across the street.

I haven't stayed at the following, but I know these places are known for lower rates: Anaheim Hotel, Del Sol, Alpine Inn, and Kings Inn.

ETA: I just read you need three sleeping surfaces. Hmmm, that may be tough. I know Hotel Indigo has a family suite with a sofa bed, but not sure on the comfort level of that.

If I recall Camelot Inn a few doors down has a 2 room family suite with 3 beds. Not sure of the cost though.

I sure miss the days of $49 rooms at Dessert Inn

yeah, we went 2 years ago at about 175 a night and 2 years before that it was 125 a night! So in 4 years it has almost doubled in price as it's now looking at 230 a night!!! Then you have to add on parking and resort fees and your at 280 USD a night. Switch that to CDN dollars and I'm paying $400 bucks a night! Not sure I'll be able to convince my wife as our last trip was terribly crowded and line ups were crazy! We said we needed a break and now I have the itch but I don't know at these prices if it's worth it! Might just go to San Diego and do a SeaWorld trip or something! My kiddo's love DL but I just don't think it's reasonable anymore!!!

We always try to stay at the Desert Inn, a couple of trips ago stayed at Eden Roc it's a little further on the other side of park

How was Eden Roc compared to DI&S? I've heard a few things online but would love to hear what you thought!

You might try a suite at Tropicana. Otherwise, you may need to look farther down the road. Anything across the street is liable to be higher than you're looking for.

I've checked all the ones across from the front gate last 2 years for trips and dessert in is still the cheapest. You really have to add a far bit of walking to find cheaper

So when do people book? It use to be that if you booked a year out when they were first available you would get it the cheapest. It looks like it stays pretty consistent now, is there really any reason to rush any more?

It’s a little further walk but we really like Desert Palm Hotel and Suites. We’ve stayed in one with a king and bunkbeds that were full size. There is a sliding door divider to. Last time we stayed in a 2 bedroom suite that had 4 queen beds and a double bathroom.

I reckon you book right away if you want to stay here. It cost more now because they are not a hidden secret anymore and you don't see discounts but you do them virtually sold out months ahead. Because they don't show up on TripAdvisor normally they use to be great for late or cheap deals but anyone who has stayed there now knows about them and books right way

I would book the room you need at DS&I and continue to watch the price. If the rate goes sown call and ask for the reservation to be adjusted.

I do this for every trip. Because the general rule is the earlier you book the lower the rate. But I have seen the rates go even lower after booking.

I booked an Executive room a couple of weeks ago, 2 months out from my trip. $189/night.

That seems a bit on the higher side. We stayed for a couple nights last month and I got a deluxe for $149, I think executive should be about $10-$20 more per night so $230 sounds very high. You might try waiting a few months and see if inventory opens up.

I'm booked there for Mid Sept and I'm at $186 p/night.
Is that a regular suite? I think the executive suites cost more, but if all the OP needs is 3 beds, most of the regular suites have that setup so hopefully they can get something like the rate you've got, which seems like a great price.

We always stayed there (family of 5) when my girls were young in the regular 2Q plus sofa bed suite because of the location, number of beds, and price. It was our go-to lodging for most trips.

The reservation show Executive Suite. That is all that they had when I made my reservation.

Keep your eyes open for cancellations! I hope you are able to get a better rate. Good luck!

Yes, I've booked DI&S many times this past year and I can verify that earliest is still the cheapest. It only goes up until they sell out.
