O.K., Thanks to a little tip from a friendly disboarder I am now looking at Desert Inn and Suites as a possibility for our hotel. Has anyone been there recently? What is the breakfast and pool like? Is it hard to get a parking space, and have you seen any good deals? Also, is there a good view of the fireworks?

:woohoo:

Where is Matterhorn when you need her?? She reccomended this motel to us and we're staying there in two weeks. She can give you all the details about it as she has stayed there often.

Haven't been there yet but we are booked for a suite in December. Several Diser's stay there a lot. I haven't heard any negatives about it. Pretty good reviews on tripadvisor.com.

We stay here every time we go to DL - 2-3 times a year. The rooms are clean and a decent size. My boys have used the pool but not me. The pool room has a strong chlorine smell but they didn't care. The breakfast is OK. Toast, rolls, fruit, milk, OJ, Coffee. We bring cereal, bowls and spoons. Denny's is right next door. The walk to the park entrance is nice and easy - very close.

Have a fun trip!

We are leaving Wednesday for a five night stay at the Desert Inn and Suites. I can report back.

I stayed here in July. We had a top floor parlor suite. The place was clean and in decent though not excellent repair. It was very quiet on the top floor. Beds were comfortable. Fold out sofa was not comfortable..the usual bar going underneath your back with a thin saggy mattress. Free breakfast was minimal. Small doughnuts and pastry, coffee, milk, OJ. Thesmall pool is inside a small room next to the parking area on the bottom floor of the motel. It is completely enclosed with not a lot of area to lay around and is NOISY as the screaming kids having fun echoooosssss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My friend from Australia stayed here with her family in October. She seemed to like it. We have a room booked there in May but it will be out first at this hotel.

We stay there several times a year. We were just there last month in a parlor suite.

Keep checking their website frequently---I've watch prices go up and down several times over a few weeks time. Book early, because some of the suites go pretty fast. Particularly (IMO) the parlor suites, as they are a reasonable and good alternative for families. We love having the small living room area with TV for when the kids are in bed.

Cont breakfast is not great. If possible, bring your own cereal and bowls---get milk from the breakfast. Bring jelly for the toast if you want. You've got a microwave and fridge if you want to bring anything more elaborate. They always have a fruit---grab a couple for snacks later in the park.

We don't use the pool. Can't comment on that. Never had a problem with noise level, or dirty room. No real complaints on this location. Just expect a 1970's style building, with clean rooms and decent service. Mansion it's not!
