Describe Matterhorn Bobsleds

The Matterhorn is a lot of fun! You ride in a two seater bobsled type thing. The two passengers sit front to back in the same car, it can be a bit tight for two adults but judging by your picture you two should have no trouble! You start out with the bobsled travelling up the inside of the mountain and then you come down, circling the outer part of the mountain. It is very fun, there are not really any big hills but it is kind of jerky! Its one of my family's favorite all time rides, we miss it so much when we go to WDW! I recommend riding it first thing in the morning, it doesn't have fastpass so the lines build up pretty quickly.

Word of warning... The Tomorrowland track is MUCH more jerky and IMO not nearly as fun as the Fantasyland track.

The Matterhorn is a classic! It's tame by today's standards, and is a bit bumpy, but very fun. Amy&Dan described it very well. It's an absolute don't miss in my book. It's open during EE, and as A&D said, its good to ride early since it doesn't have FP. But I also like riding it at night, since the lights are so pretty as your bobsled takes you in and out of the mountain. The lines are definitely longer at night, but sometimes its a bit deceptive. Before parades, they close one side of the line on the parade route side, but both sides of the ride are open so the lines move twice as fast. The Matterhorn is also an icon for DL IMO. The sight of that white mountain from the freeway is just so welcoming.

Have you been on Space Mountain at WDW? It is sort of like that but a little slower and more bumpy and much of the time you are "speeding" through icey caves and the demure Abomnible Snowman / Yeti makes a couple of appearances.

Thanks so much for the great descriptions. It sounds like a lot of fun. My dear fiance has a fear of heights and rollercoasters so I wasn't sure if this was something I could convince him to get on. But we have done Space Mountain at WDW, so if you say it's more tame than that I think we should be fine. Thanks again!

I actually prefer the TL side....so if you are game ride both sides, and report back on your impressions!

I also have a fear of heights and stay away from rollercoasters, but I enjoy all the Disney ones (haven't tried Screamin yet). The Matterhorn is great - your DF should have no problem with it.

Here's another vote for the TL side. But, if your DF doesn't like wild rides (although neither side is truly wild) I would recommend the Fantasyland side.
