Can anyone tell me what characters do the Descent of Stairs?

Also, is there a meet afterwards?

I am just wondering who we can expect to see and if we can expect autographs.

Thanks so much
Andrea

When is your trip? I think the descent of the stairs is stopping in November time along with character meets at the hotels.
There is a meet afterwards from what I know (i've never been but have read many TRs from people who have)
I think there's the usual suspects (Pluto, Goofy, Mickey), I've also seen pictures of a few Winnie the Pooh characters as well (Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, Eeyore)

you get a good random mix of characters at the Descent of the Stairs, they all come down the staircase then theres a meet n greet afterwards (its still not particularly queued though, so it can be chaotic).

Last month we saw Mickey, Pluto, Donald, Goofy, Suzy and Perla :).

The Descent takes place on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only, and will stop on 12th November this year altogether.

We were really lucky when we went and got Pluto, Eeeyore, Donald, Goofy, the 3 little pigs, Pinocchio, Mickey and Minnie:

The youngsters get to sit at the bottom the the stairs and watch and then are encouraged to their feet to meet the characters dotted around the main foyer of the DLH.
The scrums weren't too bad for the Characters that mum and I met, but we didn't like to push in in front of younger guests :goodvibes

We caught a second Decent on our departure day when we went to collect our bags and I took some photos from the 2nd floor, hopefully this will give you an idea of the amount of people and what to expect (note Genie appeared at this one!)

I think it's a real shame that this is being done away with in November, I'm so glad that I got to see it before it goes.

It seems that on a Sunday you sometimes get characters that were at the themed brunch at Inventions.

When we watched descent of the stairs we saw Mickey, Donald, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle dum. :goodvibes

We only saw Mickey, Minnie, Goofy and Gideon, and I wasn't overly impressed if I'm honest. Either more characters would have been more dramatic, or that type of setting would actually suit princesses or princes......

That's really sad that they are stopping this! Does anyone know why and if it will be replaced by anything?

I wouldn't think it will be replaced with anything in the hotels - its all part of the characters being withdrawn from all the onsite hotels and placed in the parks instead, from November this year.

Too many non hotel and non DLP park visitors going into the Disney hotels to see the characters for free. Its become a bit of a problem with parents just taking their children into the resort hotels, especially at weekends just to see Mickey and friends and not spending any money while they are there.

There will be a new Park opening during EMH starting in November which will feature Mickey and other characters getting the park ready for opening followed by meet and greets.

I can't believe people do that! :-O

That sounds fun! I'm glad that there will be something, and a new park opening sounds fab. I'll have to start working on DH to go and see it ASAP.

I can totally see how it would be an issue with people from outside disney coming in to meet characters. It's not policed at all, so very open to abuse.

This makes me sad. :guilty:
I hate to see the descent go...it's one of our favorite parts of the trip, the surprise of who it might be, the main reason we book over the weekends....

I realized they were removing the meet and greets from the hotels, but I never considered this was going too...We've met some great characters there, Genie, Mr. Penguin and Toy Soldier at Christmas.

Such a bummer...:sad2:

Thanks so much! We'll be there before November.

I didn't realise when I took this photo that it would be the last time I would get to see a Christmas descent:

How sad that they are removing this, that christmas one is great!
We will be catching this is September, hopefully! Completely forgot on last trip!

I didn't know about it last time either - and we were staying in DLH!

Definitely a must do for this trip though. :goodvibes

Thanks for sharing all the lovely photos.
