Derek Jeter 3000!!!!!!!!

Sorry, but I can't let this pass. You're right -- BUT both your username and sig celebrate the success of a boy's game with every post you make.

By all means, celebrate it -- but don't call out others for celebrating their own games.

Well said.:thumbsup2

It is an amazing feat, congratulations.

No one is suggesting the guy gets a Nobel Prize, just some congratulations for an achievement that is not only rare for the population but rare for the best of the best.

There is a very small subset of the population that can play pro baseball and an an extremely small subset of that already small subset that can get 3,000 hits. If we were talking about something in his private life I'd say who cares but a major accomplishment in the field of his profession deserves a pat on the back.

I also think Jeter is a great role model for kids playing today (like my DS).

Yes

To the person who said that we should be celebrating real heroes and not Jeter, think about all of the good Jeter does. His Turn 2 Foundation helps less privalaged and this past weekend there was a special guest of his at the stadium, a girl who lost her father on 9/11 who he first met in 2011 and has kept in contact with.

I love how that was the only part of what I said that you quoted. You obviously couldn't come up with a comeback to the other stuff cause it proved you wrong!

That is my way of letting people know a little about me.

And alittle about you consists of you loving a boys game A LOT. Maybe you should spend your time off helping the world and celebrating real heroes instead of watching not even professional athletes!

Not a Bama fan? :rotfl:

No, but that doesn't have anything to do with it. I personally find that your comment was unnecessary and stupid considering you are saying we all shouldn't be celebrating Jeter when here you are celebrating a college football team.

Seriously what do you do to celebrate those you think deserve celebrating since you brought it up?

Come on - stupid? Really? Now I am stupid because we disagree? Can't we just disagree without getting ugly? :confused3

FWIW, Jeter is one of my favorite baseball players. But I don't celebrate athletes, nor do I see them as heroes. Never did - not even Alabama football greats like Joe Namath. I guess that I should refrain from posting my opinion in sports threads though, because someone might think I am stupid. :upsidedow

Sorry... but still not buying this. DisneyBamaFan and 2009 Champions and Roll Tide in every single post IS a celebration of athletes. Not sure why you can't/won't admit it... but it IS, no matter what you choose to call it.

You mentioned earlier that you're just telling people a little about yourself. In that little bit of space, you could have picked anything. And you picked not one, not two, but three statements about the team you follow for the little bit about yourself you aim to share in every single post.

And nothing else, I might add. Just the statements about your favorite sports team.

I would explain why you are wrong, but it would be a waste of my time. You have made up your mind. So be it. :upsidedow

But you'll waste your time posting that you don't want to waste your time? It's a fine line, the one between wasting time and not wasting time, isn't it?

There was absoultely no reason why you had to come on here and say what you said! So, we are all "celebrating Jeter" here. Leave us alone! Let us do it! Why does it bother you so much when you are obviously doing the same thing and you are obviously not going out to celebrate real heroes yourself. Honeestly if you think what we are doing is so bad then just dont say anything and be proud of yourself for being the better person who doesn't celebrate athletes.

Everyone on here was actually just telling everyone alittle bit about themselves by saying that they like Jeter.

I think you just can't explain why we are wrong.

Seriously, why don't you have a picture of a teacher or a firefighter in your siggie then?

And I hope you know coming on here and saying what you said in the first place was a waste of time. Honestly though, from reading other posts from you on the community board it seems to me that you just like to go to every thread and stir the pot.
