Depositing banked points into II

Hello. We are looking at adding on a resale contract with banked 06 points that expire in August. Given that we won't close till April at the soonest, which seems awefully close to August to me, can I put those banked points into II? What can I do with only 4 months to use up the points?

Any suggestions on how to salvage those banked points? They are to OWK but we were just there so we would rather go someplace new. Thank you!

THe way I interpret the "rules" of exchanges is that your deposited inventory must be in the same use year as your search. Not sure if that answers your question or not, but it is the only information I could quickly put my finger on.

Basically, MS will need to be able to make a reservation at a DVC resort using those points in order to allow a member to use banked points late in the Use Year.

With an April closing, there should be sufficient time to make a reservation - either to use personally or to deposit with World Passport.

I was told by MS that banked points can be deposited into II. I have some transferred points and that they weren't sure of. I was able to bank them. I will find out tomorrow if I can deposit banked and transferred points. I am going to try for a trade into NC for Oct.

Yes, banked points can be deposited for World Passport exchanges, but MS does have the ability to deny some points from being used if they feel they will be unable to use them to make a DVC reservation before they expire.

For instance, if you have banked points that will expire on February 29, MS might not allow you to use those for a WP bank unless they have availability at at DVC resort before the end of this month. It they are current points, there should be no problem, but if they expire soon MS could deny their use in this situation.

I haven't responded partly because I haven't asked this question of DVC since they changed to the current points list system. In the past there had to be availability to deposit and if no availability in ANY resort, you couldn't deposit. In reviewing the information and yearly II audit, this is likely still true. However, there is a chance that DVC may have other options including that they may have already deposited something that they can transfer to you or they may be able to stretch the rules a little by depositing something beyond your UY in some cases. In the past you could not deposit an existing reservation, there have been reports that may have changed, I have not explored this issue. I'd suspect it's handled on a case by case basis.
