hello everyone, im planning my first trip to DW for May 2014 (me, DD and DH) i have read that when you book you need to put down a $200 deposit then the balance must be paid off 45 days in advance. I a little confused because im in the middle of making my reservations online and it's telling me that my deposit due is $605.78 :confused3 i did not add airfare to my package so i was wondering if someone out there could explain why this is. is it $200 per person maybe? i just wanna make sure i did everything right because it's asking for such a random number?!? TIA

Normally, when booking a package without travel insurance from Disney, a deposit of $200 is required. If you selected to add travel insurance from Disney, the deposit amount due is normally $200 + insurance amount. By any chance, if you are booking a package, did you elect to add travel insurance for $405.78?

If you are booking a room only, your deposit is the cost of 1 night stay. Then the balance is due upon arrival.

booked a package (room, tickets and dining plan). no travel insurance and no airfare. i'll go back and make sure i didn't click something i wasn't supposed to.

did you figure it out?

I figured it out. Since we plan on park hopping on only 1 day of out trip, that ticket is separate from the package. That has to be paid for up front in addition to the $200 deposit. Thanks everyone.

Are you buying a one-day hopper in addition to multi-day base tickets to do this? It would be much cheaper just to buy the hopper feature to a multi day ticket than it would be to buy a separate one-day hopper even if you only plan to hop on one day.

That is exactly what we are doing. i did all the math and it's cheaper to buy a 1 day hopper in addition to our base tickets. not much cheaper ($26) but thats $ that i can use elsewhere so i'll take it. :woohoo:

How can that be? It's about $60 to add hopping to a ticket and only $10 to add extra days beyond 4. A 1-day park-hopper ticket is $129. I don't see how buying 2 sets of tickets could be cost-effective.

Interesting. This does turn out to be true for three days or less of park visits in total.
