Deposit Required When Booking Via Telephone?

I was just wondering (before I call) if there was a deposit required if you make a DLR reservation over the phone. I know there certainly is if you do it on the internet but I remember when I made a reservation 3 years ago it was like that but when I called and made the reservation I didn't have to leave a deposit at all. Have things changed? Or did I maybe just get lucky the last time??

They usually required a deposit. If you are booking too close to your traveling date (within 30 days) they do require full payment.

As I remembered, last year we had to pay $200 at booking time (over the phone, with Disney Travel Agency). I don't know if it has changed any.

We had to pay full price(deposit) for the 1 night stay at the Grand two weeks ago.

One time because we were arriving the next day and it was a good annual passholder rate, we had to pay the first night immediately. A year previous to that, because we booked it a couple of months in advance, and it was not a passholder rate we did not need to make a deposite. You should call them directly and ask

If you are booking what's called a "Room Only" reservation through Central Reservations at DLR, you have to give them a one-night deposit plus the 15% tax up front. With a Room-Only reservation, you can cancel with no charge and a full refund all the way up until 5 days prior to arrival.

If you book directly through the Walt Disney Travel Company, which handles packages with Hoppers or dining vouchers, etc. (and they even have packages without tickets included, so be aware of exactly what you are getting), they require the $200 up front and have a more strict cancellation policy. You could cancel months in advance but if you don't buy Travel Insurance, you won't get a full refund. They will take at least $100 out of your paid amount if you don't have the Travel Insurance, and they take $200 if you cancel closer to arrival date.

Oh wow, I see. You just confirmed that I definitely want to buy tickets and hotel separately. I definitely don't think the vacation "package" is worth the extra money let alone the stricter cancellation policy! Thanks sooo much!

It doesn't matter how close to your arrival date you are booking, you need only pay for the first night + tax, even if it's less than 30 days in advance. This is true as of 2 weeks ago for a hotel only reservation. The cancellation policy was full refund if canceled 5 days or more before your arrival date.

Maybe it has changed since last year, or it is different for travel packages.
