Deposit refund when credit card account is closed

I need to cancel my Sept/Oct trip. It is a package and I put the deposit down in 9/07 on a credit card that no longer exists. I transferred that balance to another account in a different bank and closed the card. I know their policy is to credit the account that was originally charged, so do they make acceptions and credit another card or what the heck happens? :confused3

The deposit ALWAYS goes back to the original card even if the account is closed, there are no exceptions. What happens once that is done, is that the credit card company issues you a check for the credit amount.
 
My bank/debit card number was stolen a couple of months ago & I was reissued a new card with number. I had made a room only reservation with the old card & had to cancel that one. I was worried that the refund would not go through beings I did not have that card anymore, but thankfully there were no problems & it showed back in my account within a few days.
 
Might want to tell them that but would also call the bank or the company that had your old card:)
 

That is what I thought unfortunately. I would be really surprised if the bank sent the check to me. I don't have too much faith in them which is why I jumped ship in the first place. I guess I have two choices. Rebook an additional trip and transfer the deposit, or kiss that money good bye.

If you can rebook and transfer the deposit that would be easiest for sure. Even if that trip needs to be changed you can transfer again - that way you will not lose the deposit, if you have a concern about the bank not sending a check.

And if you rebook, you have a trip to look forward to!! ;)
 
I had used a credit card to book a room only reservation once. When it got closer to our stay, a promotional code came out and we were able to save about $25 on our reservation. Disney said they would mail me a check but instead credited my already closed our credit card. I called and spoke to a supervisor and they told me they would send me the refund on a Disney gift card. I never did get the refund in any form. For $25, I just gave up.

Can't you ask Disney & tell them what going on? Might have to talk to Guest services? I gather it is a package & you put down $200 only? If you are planning another trip they can transfer if you talk to Guest Services. This what I did last year had a trip planned & decided to change resorts & dates, they just used what I paid into the package that I just redid. But don't just eat it. Call you never know what will happen. If you don't have that card any longer Disney should be able to send you a check or maybe even credit to another card maybe. Good luck !
 
the refund HAS to go back to the same card. otherwise people could call and say the account was closed and put the refund on another card and they'd have a bunch of fraud cases on their hands
