My deposit is due today. I phoned Disney to ask if I could have a few more days and they said NO.
My DH has to get the dates for his vacation approved my manager who is out this week himself. We did not know he was going to be out this long.
Now the money is due, paying with Disney Visa, and the CM said that as long as we cancel before final payment is due we will get all the deposit money back if DH can't get that week.
Has anyone done this?
Did you get your money back without penialty?
I do have trip insurance if that helps. I jsut want to make sure I play worse case so that I know for certain, come next week if we need to change our current dates we can get that $400)2 rooms) back.
Thanks everyone.

as long as you are talking about dealing directly with Disney and not some travel agent, you're good to go. Not only will you get your money back, but I know people who have simply postponed their trip and gotten their discounts carried over.

Your kidding me? Really? Like they had free dinning and paid deposit and then couldn't go at that time and then went say 6 months later and they gave them their free dinning still or are we talking room discount?
Thanks for answering me, and yes its through Disney Travel. Ya know the 407-Disney number.
Am I good?

As long as you are at least 45 days out, you can cancel or change your package without penalty (you will get all of your deposit money back- you won't be out a single penny).
Not sure about the travel insurance deal, though, since we never buy that. Check on that before you agree to purchase that. If you have not even made your deposit yet, you can have them drop the insurance before you put your deposit down (if that's what you want to do).

You won't be able to keep your free dining deal unless your new dates still fall within the free dining period (sorry!). But there are some great deals out there for dates through December right now.

Thank you all so much for the help. I just hung up with them and thank god you mention about the insuracne cause no one at Disney told me about that and I asked again for a few more day but still the answer was NO.:confused3\
Anywho, they said yes if I pay the deposit I would get all my money back but said nothing about the insurance being non refundable.
So because of you all I asked what about the insurance and they said no that has nothing to do with us. So I said ok then if I drop the insurance now, pay the deposit and my husbands can get the dates can I add the insurance when I know for sure? They said yes so that is what I did.
Is it just me or do you feel a sence of total relief once the deposit is paid?
Ok so we are good to go! Can I be super excited now? lol  cause I am!:yay:

You will get your full deposit back if you cancel before the final payment is due...doesn't matter if you book through a travel agent or directly through Disney.

You have 7 days, this accomodates those who do not like to do these kinds of things online or on telephone, or perhaps they do cash for everything and do not have any bank card (ATM type) or even a checking acct. You just never know. First time I booked a trip via telephone, I sent a check for the deposit.

So yes you can postpone the deposit 7 days, but once you make the reservation, there is no extension on that 7 days, you have 7 days from the date the reservation is made.

Was I clear, seems I kept talking in circles?????

i thought you couldnt book a trip without paying the deposit. am i wrong?

If you ask, Disney will give you a seven day grace period. If you don't call back to pay the deposit on that last day, it will automatically be canceled.

The insurance is non refundable after a very short grace period. I did not ask for insurance and when I called to make a change I was :confused3 about the amount I owed. The insurance. I had to speak to guest services to have the fee removed. It was added automatically after we changed resorts and the CM did not tell me. That was before I knew it gets added on and I need to tell them I do not want it. I don't make that mistake anymore.

Hmm.. we just switched from POP to CBR and I haven't been able to see my reservation online for a few weeks now. I wonder if this happened to us, too?

I would call and check. I never take the insurance so it did not occur to me to ask if it had been added when I made a change. I should have checked myself so I felt fortunate that they did remove the fee. Lesson learned for me.
