Deployment / Christmas party?

If he is getting any kind of block leave-i know our full time Guard Guys did-i would do your going away then-that will leave the last few days before they head to mob station for ya'll to spend together. your experience with timing of departure will be somewhat different than the girls whos husbands are active duty-AD guys get about 2 weeks of block leave-come back to work and bust hump for about 2 weeks-and then the larger units leave home in groups and it takes a couple of weeks-Guard soldiers leave home and go to mob station for 60 to 90 days and then have a 4 day break immediately before the unit leaves mob station for theater-DO NOT plan anything during that 4 days-that is your family time-my husband doesnt even come home-my sons and i go to mob station and we do a family break at a vacation spot near it-last time in San antonio. Since your departure for mob station looks to be early in the year-do your send off either before christmas or during the block leave period -if his unit gives the full time guys that-i know ours did.

I had talked to him about it before posting. He did want some sort of get together but nothing big like a party party. He mentioned too bad it wasn't summer as a BBQ would have been what he would have picked.

I'm the one who was pointing out the time frame & holidays, and probably how busy he would be in January. So that's how Christmas came about in the discussion. I'm the planner & tend to think of stuff like that where he doesn't. lol

And yes, if it were all up to me, going out to eat, ONCE, with everyone to cover the holidays & send off, with no one sleeping over, would be my vote.

Perhaps I can work on someone else in the family picking up Christmas this year & next for a change. And maybe we can just go out to eat for send-off. That's what I vote for.
