We got the Best Western Lake Buena Vista at Downtown Disney on priceline, and I was just wondering if ANYONE has any information regarding the hotel. How are the rooms, the service, and can you actually walk to Downtown Disney from the hotel? I have never stayed in this area and know nothing about the hotel, so any information you have would be great. We will be there at a busy time of the year (Thanksgiving) and also wondered how the restaurants at the hotel rank and if the hotel will be decorated for Xmas! Any information you have would be so appreciated!! Thanks!!:woohoo:

I haven't been there yet, but I read about it on Mousesavers and that's why I booked it before our week at CR.

Here is a little map that will give you an idea of the relative distance from your resort to DTD, you can walk but it's a good brisk walk. You are one of the furthest away, which isn't that great for walking to DTD but is does give you good access to the Crossroads Shopping Center so you can get food and supplies. I believe they also have a bus running ever 30 minutes if you don't feel like walking.

I stayed there in 2004 for one night before moving on to the Disney resort I had booked for the week. Make no doubt about it, this hotel is old, "built in the early 70's" and once was a Travel lodge back in day. When I stayed there I was told it was just remodeled and it seemed to be fine for what you get. I remember only paying $69 bucks a night, but they do stick you with resort fees per day and will charge you extra for a Disney view. I went with the upgraded view and it wasn't worth the 15 bucks extra a night they charged me. The pool is very basic and was a common style on motels and hotels of the 70's. No slide or fun features for the kids and was shaped in triangle style design. There was a hot tub though and it was ok. They do have a small Disney gift store which sold official products like, tshirts, hats, mugs, etc. They even sell park tickets and I saw they had a shuttle service to the parks. I didn't use it, but saw the shuttles come and go on a regular basis. The food in the hotel was just ok and nothing to write home about. DTD has better food choices.

The hotel has a kind of weird maze design to it with the 3 elevator system which is in the center of the building and kind of in a triangle design as well. It's not hard to get turned around in the hallways and lose your sense of direction and the hallways were dark in decoration. It's kind of hard to explain, but check out the readers photos on Trip adviser and you will see what I mean. It's fairly close walking distance to DTD, but I remember taking a cab when it rained the night I was there and was only a few dollars. Beware of the time sale pitch some company does in the lobby and they have a booth set up near the front desk area. Those people are like hawks and I didn't care for the hard sales pitch they tried to give me. Don't expect this resort to be Disney themed or magical and if you get a really cheap rate, it might work for you. Look around and check out the other offerings near by.

After looking at some pictures and finding a write up on Wickipedia -- I think this is the same place we stayed on our honeymoon. With the name change I was confused. It was nice then -- but that was a long time ago. I'm sure there have been upgrades.

Thanks so much for the information! If anyone else has had any experiences with this hotel, please write me! I am am newbie to this site, but love it so far! Your insights have helped me so much so far! Thanks again!!
