Departing from Toronto - which airline?

We had bad experiences with Air Transat last year, and this year we decided to purchase plane tickets separately.

We are from Toronto, and consider Air Canada (Tango Plus) as our priority. However, would like to learn if there are other airlines that offers direct flights to Orlando with a better schedule.

Ideally we want to depart at Peason Airport around noon, which we can arrive at MCO around 3pm (and get to WDW by 4:30pm). Not sure if that is possible.

Those 6:00am flights are tough with a 3-year-old, especially you were not allowed to check-in early when you arrive at WDW at 9am - and everyone is too tired to explore the theme parks.

We had the late flight last time - including the Delay - we arrive POFQ slightly before midnight - the resorts were filled up and we did not get our requests.

Any suggestions?

WestJet has direct flights. My daughter has booked SunWing for her flight Aug/07 for $293/pp. Their flights leave TO 6:10am arriving Orlando 9:15am, returning 10:45 Oralndo arriving TO 1:25pm.

I second Sunwing! :thumbsup2

Your going to experience that same problem with a 4:30PM check in.

madonna31 - I know you went on SunWing's first flight to Orlando and had food served to you, do you know if they still serve food on their flights.

Phabric; - to date, Sunwing is still serving hot meals on their flights to Orlando! :thumbsup2

To the OP - you can read my report (complete with pics) of my flight on Sunwing here:

Anyone Flown Sunwing yet?

I had really good luck last week with www.kayak.com . Looking for something further east, not TO, but it seemed to do a good job of searching the "majors", which I find really tedious. Need to look up who recommended it to me (here), as I need to thank him/her--saved us a lot of money AND the worry of waiting forever for a maybe seat sale.

We are flying West Jet in March. We flew them last year for the first time and loved them. We had a much better experience than the previous two years on AC. Our times this year are to fly out at 10:35 am and arrive in Florida at 1:15pm. I like this time the best as it isn't too early, but by the time we are out of the airport it is about 2:30 or so. Our flight home leaves at 2:10pm and we arrive in Toronto at 4:59pm.

p.s. We booked our flights in early June and comparing the prices now, we saved ourselves almost $2000 for our six tickets!! We payed $3100 total for six of us including taxes. Punching it in now it would be $5100!!! I'm booking early from now on!!

that is just crazy !! flying out of Buffalo for 4 people will cost me around $800.00 if I price that out on Suwing it will cost me roughly the same however you have to add another $800.00 dollars on Tax ... I rather drive 1.5hr to buffalo and flight out of there ...trust me I've done it with at 2yr old and a 5yr old with a stop over in atlanta and it was a pice of cake ... in December !! :thumbsup2

You have to look at flight options on a per guest/vacation basis. It's not ALWAYS cheaper to fly out of Buffalo.

For example, I just booked a family of four Toronto/Orlando/Toronto for November 24th - December 1st on Sunwing for $1,136 Canadian taxes included.

The SAME dates Buffalo/Orlando/Buffalo through Southwest was $1,326.40 USD!

As much as I'd like to fly out of Buffalo "someday" ... right now for me, I have to basically "suck it up" and go from Toronto. I am a teacher, so I can only travel on the March Break (ie. higher prices). I do teach half time, so this year we fly on a Saturday and return on a Monday (I teach Kdgn B schedule). We live two hours north of Toronto, so it would take us 3.5 hrs to drive to Buffalo (in good weather). In the winter it can be very unpredictable and I don't want to chance driving that far (whether heading there, or heading home). That is just me. I also don't want to have a stopover. I too have young children, but I just know I would be too stressed about it. My girls are good travellers (well, usually for the youngest  ) ... so straight down is preferrable for me.

Yes someday, we will try Buffalo, but for now we are ok with Toronto. I did price the week before with southwest (as our dates aren't out that far for them) and it would cost $2400 US for six of us ... so for the $700 difference and having to stay in a hotel in Buffalo (two rooms ... my parents and my family), it wouldn't be a huge savings after exchange, etc. So it isn't ALWAYS that much cheaper ...

Of course that's at full price. At $59 each way it's a totally different story.

Hi,
If you book now with Sunwing and prices drop, do you get a credit with this airline?

Thanks!

Sorry to hear that. We had a great experience with Air Transat last month. We paid CAN 1.000 for air+hotel+car for 2 adults and 1 infant.

We just booked Air Transat. Sunwing was about $30 more expensive. We had a bad experience last year with Skyservice with the plane returning to Toronto after being halfway to Orlando. They said the reason was incomplete paperwork. We stopped in Toronto for a very short time and left again. It was enough to make me use a different airline.
