Deodorant

I put it on after my nightly shower and then again after my morning shower...

I read on the back of one of the clinical protection ones that you are supposed to put it on before bed...

I take morning showers but I do put deoderant on for bed.

I like a cold room and alot of times my husband turns off the fan when he goes to bed after me so I wake up in the middle of the night all sweaty. Ick. I love it when he's out of town since I get my fan on all night.

I'm just fascinated that there's a 3 page conversation on when we put on deodorant! LOL :rotfl2:

FWIW, mine goes on after my shower in the morning.

If the pits get washed, they then get deoderant. Sometimes I will feel the need for a mid-day application too. Just to be sure. I obsess equally over brushing my teeth/having bad breath too. I have a phobia about smelling bad. ;)

And hey, I don't want to smell bad just in case there may be some evening action of some type. :rolleyes1

After our evening shower, DBF puts on deodorant to go to bed. I do not. Each of us thinks the other is odd. So, do you put deodorant on before going to bed (after taking your nightly shower)?

I also use a natural deodorant and I use it whenever I shower. I have one of those crystal stones too! My husband has one too, and some BB herbal deodorant that smells like he's been outdoors all day:eek:, I make him wear the stone at work, it is much better for the noses of the patients and staff that he comes in contact with. SN: I don't put lotion on at night, so I'm ashy in the morning, but I'm headed back to the shower so I don't care anyways:rotfl:, I do make sure that my feet are nice and soft though. I use cocoa butter or coconut oil and it last all day:lovestruc

Many years ago (don't recall the source), I read that deodorant protection is a bit of delayed reaction -- if you want the best effect in the daytime, apply it at night. I guess it takes a bit of time for the aluminum to do its thing.

It was on one of the doctor shows that one is suppose to apply deodorant on at night. I apply it in the morning and always swear I'm going to try it at night but forget.

The clinical strength deodorants specifically say to put it on at night, but then I always worry I'm washing it away when I shave in the shower in the mornings... so I put it on after that too. :confused3

I am the odd girl out. I am really allergic to any and all deoderants. I have tried them all especially all the natural one's. Even the stone. I take after my Dad. He never needed or used deoderant all his life and now I don't use it either. I very rarely sweat and if I do I just wash myself with a cloth and that is the end of that. I don't smell (I have asked family members and they wouldn't hesitate to tell me I do smell) so don't use it. If I do use any of them I end up with a really bad rash from head to toe. Not worth it to me. I'm not sure what I would do if I did have an odor problem, then I would have a big problem.

I know someone like that too. I agree that some people don't sweat much or smell. I am one of those and can get by without deoderant as long as I definitely shower every day.

As for the stone, it is also made of aluminum; however, the particles of aluminum are much larger so, theoretically, they cannot be absorbed as well through the skin as regular aluminum deoderants. That's why it probably didn't work for you because it's not really so different.

I always put on deoderant after a shower no matter what time of day the shower is taken.

Deodorant and lotion after every shower even if I'll be taking another one in the morning. I hate when I can't use deodorant when I get my mammogram...yuck. I feel gross, lol. My DH uses deodorant but he's one of the non-smelly ones I think. He comes home from the gym literally dripping with sweat and still smells good:confused3

It seems split. lol

I do shower the next morning and deodorize at that time but I don't see a need to put in on just to sleep especially when I'm going to be getting up in 7 hours to shower again.

I do like that when I snuggle up to him at night his pits smell good. lol

Why wouldn't he feel the same way? WE've been married 21 yrs and I like to smell good to my dh. You never know where it could lead....

I generally don't take a show at night, I only take a shower in the morning. On the occasion when I do, for one reason or another, take a shower before bed, I don't put on deodorant.

I think deodorant is suppose to be more effective if you put it on at night. Something about the sweat glands opening up while you sleep and the deodorant forming plugs and blocking them from producing.

That said, I have a tendency to forget to put it on at night so mine gets put on on the morning.

When I was 14 I developed an infected sweat gland from over-use of Dry Idea deodorant. It was after a week of putting on deodorant in the morning, after PE, after band practice and after dance lessons - 3 - 4 times a day. There was a lump on my underarm by that Saturday and went to the doctor on Monday; and the doctor lanced it and said to never use Dry Idea and just use powder or Almay deodorant.

I don't know if I'm more amused by the 4 pages on deodorant or that I just spent time reading all 4 pages. :rotfl2:

Anyway I normally shower at night. I would find it hard to sleep if I had to lay there all night in my body dirt and dead skin. I like to snuggle into my pillow that smells like fabric softener and my conditioner. I'm sure DH appreciates it too. :thumbsup2 I put on deodorant after I shower or my pits will itch when I'm trying to sleep. I also reapply in the morning. I'm not someone who normally sweats a lot but I don't want to take any chances.

If I'm crazy so be it. To me putting on deodorant is a part of taking a shower. Then again I'm also one of those crazies that uses a clean towel every time I take a shower. That's another thread all together though. :goodvibes
