Looking for info. for Denver Airport. I have 2 reservations. Budget $220 total w/tax for 8 days getting a Ford Taurus and Enterprise for $243 getting a Sports Utility (might be trailblazer or similar). 2 adults 3 kids. Prices are insanely high and by the luck of who know what i have these amazing rates. Now wondering which is the easiest to get to? I read Enterprise we have to use shuttle but not sure about Budget. Does anyone have any feedback on which car rental would be better than the other?

Thank you!!

I want to say that all of the rental car companies in Denver require a shuttle to get to. They are a little ways offsite, but not too bad.

If you are not extremely picky about what companies you use, you might try naming your own price on priceline. I rented a car there a year or so ago, and I ended up getting a midsized car for something like $12 a day. Now, it was not the height of tourist season, but it was still less than 1/2 the best deal I could find otherwise. Its always worth a shot.

Ok thanks. Did not know you shuttle to all the car companies.

I am skeptical about priceline only because it is non-refundable and you cant change the reservation. The deals seem very good though.

There are no onsite rental cars in Denver. You have to shuttle to any of them. Some are closer than others but priceline might be worth a shot. When my parents come to visit we always pick them up then rent near my house to avoid the airport taxes and fees.

When you get to Denver Airport, you have to take a shuttle to the car rental place which is only minutes away. Each car rental agency has their own shuttle bus. You just follow the signs to car rental shuttles. Word of warning with Budget. A couple of years ago I rented a car through budget at Denver Airport. It took over an hour waiting in line to get the keys to the car. Never wanted to experience that again so now I either do national or alamo.

I know what you mean about car rental prices being outrageous at Denver airport. My DH has a trip out there in 2 weeks and I couldn't find anything under $58 a day. I was looking at priceline but then I noticed that budget was one of the car rental agencies that might pick up the bid. The price you have for your rental is pretty good considering what the rates have been.

Yeah, I never do priceline until I am absolutely certain that my plans are set. You could always book the best price you can get though, and then a few days before you leave (once you know the plans are set) go with priceline and see if you can get a better deal.

I have previously used Advantage Rental Car several times when flying into Denver and was very happy with the cars and service. There website is: http://www.advantage.com

Take a look and see what kind of rates they have for the period you need.

Good luck

I used Alamo last summer (late July through early August) to rent two minivans for two weeks at DIA. When I started looking the prices were outrageous at over $800 each but I used the hints from Mousesavers and the codes listed elsewhere such as Costco and AARP and checked daily.

Somehow I managed to finally get one of the minivans down to $400 (using government employee discount) and the other to about $600. I really had to check each day and grab a deal when I saw it. The easiest way for me was to use the Southwest Air car rental site to quickly compare all the car rental prices for Denver at one time.

All in all, $1000 was excellent for two weeks for two minivans!

For what it's worth, Seattle is the worst airport we've ever had to check rental prices for. The car rentals are 2x the Denver prices and there are almost no bargains to be found. And picking up in Seattle doesn't help us since we're heading out to the Peninsula first. We finally found an SUV for double what it would cost in Orlando but we're still checking car rental rates daily.
