Hi not disney
BUT i wondered how many of you have had wisdom teeth out? :scared1:

im having all 4 of mine out at hospital next friday, and im getting very worried, ill be under but i cant imagne going in fine and ciming out in pain, i dont do pain well (says her who had 4 babies) but theres not a thing like tooth pain.:sad2:

i ve been having nightmares all week, :scared1: silly i know but i cant help it, i wake up when im under but i cant let them know and i endure the whole thing, they give me no drugs and have to kneel on my chest to get one of them out, very scary.......gonna be a long long long week

Definitely better to be under for the Operation! I had an injection to relax me but I was so tense they had a lot of trouble finding a vein to inject :rotfl2:

Having all 4 out does seem a bit scary - I only had two on the same side out. They should give you extra strong pain killers but it won't be fun for a couple of days and you could end up looking like a chipmunk for a bit. The saltwater mouth rinse really does work.

Best of luck! pixiedust:

I only had two out the time I had them done and I was due to go under but the last minute they said I could stay awake.

Didn't feel a thing and the pain wasn't that bad - even though one had been infected (which is why I had it removed). The other was just removed to keep my bite correct.

I found that wrapping a hot water bottle in a towel and then laying with my face on it helped.

Good luck

I had 3 out in hospital (for some reason the 4th one never grew) and didn't have any pain at all afterwards, just felt grotty for a couple of days from the anaesthetic ~ but like mikki said I too looked like a chipmunk and had awful bruising, in fact it looked like I had done 10 rounds with Mike Tyson. I do bruise very easily so hopefully that won't happen to you.

Good luck :goodvibes

I've had 2 out whilst awake but after they took the first one out I fainted :rotfl: and they had to wait for me to come round before they took the other one out :scared: As for pain I really didn't have much and one of my teeth had a big hook in it's root which was stuck in my jaw so they really had to yank it!

Good luck it won't be as bad as you think - fingers crossed!

Just wanted to say good luck:)

thanks for that...im feeling a litter better about it, its a big thing for me as im one of those poeople who gets wound up even thinking about the dentist.Irrational ..yes, but i cant help it,

Nice to know some have been thru it and wasnt so bad.
:)

I've had 2 out so far, and it looks like the other 2 will have to come out at some point. Like you, i have a hysterical fear of the dentist and pain (I gave birth 3 times:lmao: )but to be honest, the thinking about it and the build up before is so much worse than the actual procedure, which was painless (obviously you will be out cold!) Afterwards, yes I was a bit sore for the first 24 hours but i did feel better fast, recovery is very quick. i think afterwards you might shed some tears of relief like i did and by the end of the week it will all be a distant memory. Good luck:grouphug:

Hi,
Hope all goes well, my better half has got to have her wisdom teeth put in...!!..:rotfl2:

Mick.

:cool2:

I've still got mine ~ Hope things go well for you though:)

I had two out at the same time in hospital (and stayed awake) BUT I cheated a little as my wife was the Dental nurse who assisted :)

I suppose that would help a bit .........

Okay, I dreaded getting mine out as well. I was told all 4 needed to come out. They didn't give me an option of a general anaesthetic, and quite frankly I'm glad because I didn't want to have one. There are more complications with GAs in general than local anaesthetics. The injections are a tiny bit stingy, but that's over in a few seconds and then you don't feel anything but you are awake.
They had to take 2 out at a time. They'd planned to do all four I believe, one of the first two was impacted and basically they had to remove a tiny bit of jaw bone to finish the job properly. Of course, when I was having this done I had no idea - there was no pain, no copious blood or anything!!!! There was a fair bit of hauling, which was actually funny rather than frightening. I'll admit that the first occasion the pain was intense after the anaesthetic wore off. But this was because of the problem they'd had with that one tooth and the jaw bone. I would have gladly hit my head with the frying pan just to put my lights out for a day or so. But it DID resolve.
The second occasion I was inevitably dreading the after effects - not the procedure itself - because of the first experience. It went smoothly and they didn't have to do anything to the bone. I came out and thought I would be needing to dope up when the anaesthetic wore off. Nope. I didn't take a single painkiller. Not one. Didn't need to (and I'm not one for pain either). I performed in an orchestra concert the next day (and I'm a violinist so you can imagine that might affect my jaw somewhat).
Good luck, I hope you have a similar experience to my second one, but I'd think seriously about getting a Local Anaesthetic.

im a complete nervous wreck, i can just about handle fillings, theres no way i could do it awake! id probably pass out anyway- have a bit of a dental phobia:eek:
you are very brave!x
