Dental Surgery Mistake! (UPDATE)

Your dentist may only do x-rays once a year but insurance companies will pay for BWX every 6 months and Periapical xrays whenever it is needed. I know this for an absolute fact. Very few ins. co. limit bwx and none limit periapicals.

How can you possibly know this for an "absolute fact" - when not everyone has the exact same coverage - or any coverage at all? :confused3

To preserve and protect her rights.

Very well put - with very few words..:thumbsup2

Wrong. My old Metlife policy would only cover x-rays every 12 months. And we had an excellent plan.

Our Delta Dental only covered xrays once a year- my dentist wanted to do them every 6 mos.

Wow. Didn't know you were the administrator of my DH's company dental policy. Good to know where I can go to lodge complaints in the future for our very minimal (i.e lousy) coverage.

Did you ever talk to your dental insurance about the mistake? They have lawyers. Hope the tooth is ok.

Thanks...we hope it's OK too.

No, I haven't called the insurance company. Honestly, I was waiting to see if he even filed the claim, but I'm sure he will. We paid our part in advance, and of course he hasn't mentioned refunding that, :sad2: so I'm sure he'll try to get the rest. I might call them in the morning and see what they have to say.

The hospital bill (for the OR) and the anesthesia bill will be separate and actually billed to medical insurance, so I guess I could call them, too.

I'm not handinpocket but I have Metlife insurance through work and it covers checkups, cleanings and x-rays twice a year

ours too:thumbsup2

we choose not to do xrays 2x a year, or even every year, but it is covered.
