I had 2 teeth (molars) pulled this past Tuesday and the 2 on either side prepped for a temporary bridge which is now in place. There are stitches where the 2 were pulled so that part is under the dummy part (make sense??) of the bridge. I have never hurt for sooo long...is this normal?? I never took the Tylenol 3 that the Dentist prescribed and have made it with Extra-Strength Tylenol and now Advil..and though I was in the 'chair' for 4 hours..it is still nagging. :confused3 Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this as it has been many years since I have had such work done.

Thank you!!!! :wave2:

If it's the area that the tooth was pulled it could be dry socket. The blood clot is gone and the area is raw and exposed. It feels like a throbbing pain that can keep you up at night. The only way to treat it is to go to the dentist.

I hope this helps. Sorry for your pain. My husband had it and even though I was in the dental field there was nothing I could do to help him.

I feel your pain! I had a tooth pulled on Thursday and had an implant put in. My face is still swollen and it's still hurting. Although my dentist gave me vicodin, which is helping!

when u bite down...does it feel like u r hitting one side first...

if so....u need your bite adjusted...
if the pain is not better by mon morning...
call your dentist

It seems to vary between the front tooth of the new bridge and the last and that almost feels like the jaw too? I guess it is radiating? The 'great' thing is, my Dentist is off on his annual golfing trip this week though I am sure that he has an Emergency Dentist seeing his patients if I call his number...just can't bear the thought of anyone going near my mouth for while!!

Could I still get dry socket when the area is stitched as well as under the 2 'dummy' teeth??

Thank you for all your help...I always know when I come here that someone else has been through the same thing too!!

Oh, and yes...my bite is definetly off. When he was asking me how the whole area felt I was still frozen to the eyeballs so how could I know? Feels high, especially in the front of the bridge.

happens all the time...
call your dentist monday....whoever is covering...
they will adjust your bite....very simple procedure...
dont wait...
when your bite is off u have no idea the kind of pressure
that side is under....your whole jaw would be sore from that..

did u have root canal on the teeth holding the bridge...
also brush with sensodyne toothpaste...
if no root canal... some air might be hitting the "prepared teeth"
the sensodyne might help with that sensitivity...

but u must have your bite adjusted asap..

Thanks! I will call tomorrow...I had no root canals. Though I will see him 1st week in December, we will not complete the final bridge for 4-5 months to be sure that the prepped teeth will adjust and settle without complication!

Oh, teeth sure can be troublesome!

I think it can still happen. Your description by radiating kinda sounds like dry socket. If medicine doesn't help, definitely go see your dentist Monday. It wont go away or get better. If you're bite is off tylenol should take care of it.

Scared to ask...but what do they if it IS dry socket?

Usually what happens is a blood clot forms inside the socket. When the socket comes out the area become raw and irritated. If that's what you have the dentist will put a little patch with some medicine inside and you will feel relief immediately :)

Let me know what happens.

YIKES! But that means he would have to open the stitches!?!?!?!

Sounds like a BIG ouch to me!!!

I 'almost' look forward to them being in a glass on the nightable! :lmao:

Taking out the stitches won't hurt at all. Enough time may have passes where they won't have to put them back in. Especially since you have the bridge there to cover it. I'm surprised they attempted to do the bridge so fast.

I don't think you want dentures. Think of the carmel apples, corn on the cob you'll be missing!
