Demi Lovato off to rehab

Both Demi and Selena were on Barney at a very young age so she did start young enough that I could see it being considered "forcing" into show business. I don't think that is a Disney Channel problem, but maybe a parent problem of wanting money and fame through your child. Selena doesn't seem to have these problems and she started at the same age--maybe she wanted to continue but wasn't made to feel she HAD to. KWIM?

This morning on the radio they were talking about Demi and stated that one report said they were at the airport and she went off on a back up dancer and then started screaming threats at Ashley Green, Joe's GF. Mr. Jonas finally said, "that is enough, you are going home!" At that point she went into treatment. The report said that it was felt that the stress of the tour added with the stress of the break up with Joe was just too much for her.

I can't help but think that maybe Mr. Jonas should have a talk with Joe about being a bit more considerate of his ex-gf or maybe being a bit more careful about dating people he works with.

Demi definitly needs treatment but there was no need in Joe rubbing salt in her wounds by being with his new gf right in Demi's face all the time. That had to be very hard on her.

she also played her at a younger age in "Sonny"!

they have different last names - are they half sisters? Is the older sister a half sister?

the father made a statement yesterday - sounds like he barely sees/knows her. I am guessing this is another messed up family - that plus early entrance to "hollywood" is a bad thing. The only way you can survive is to have a strong family/parent backing you in all the right ways.

I don't agree with the poster that said this is a Disney problem.....

according to Wiki she is the maternal half-sister of singer and actress Demi Lovato. She also has another older half-sister, Dallas Lovato

When you work or go to school with someone you dated you are going to see them with their new date. Think about when you are in high school ( which is roughly the age of Demi) you see your ex with their new date everyday. I feel sorry for her and hope she gets all the help she needs though.

I certainly never said that. What I DID say was that it must've been rough for her to have to be around her ex and her ex's new gf all the time.

what I meant by this was...if all the DC "stars" were in rehab...maybe we would not be subjected to all of their mindless tv shows...

just being in earshot of the TV when one of my kids is watching one of these shows is torture...

I don't think it is his fault. She obviously had some issues previous to their break up. But, working together on this tour would probably make them have to work very closely with him and constantly watch him and the other girl. I would think it would be a little harder than seeing someone at school where you can get away from them. She can't just get off the plane.

Add to that, I am sure that working on a world-wide tour is more stressfull than high school so she is under a lot of stress.

I just think he could have probably been a bit more sensitive. And if their break up was recent (I dont' usually keep up with this stuff) it really would be like rubbing salt in the wounds.

I certainly agree that Joe should have been a bit more sensitive regarding the constant presence of Ashley Green. But then, from the little bit we see of Joe, he seems to be the brother that is less mature (looking for the right word here) than Nick and Kevin. He flits from girl to girl like every other young, hot star. No, it isn't his fault, but he certainly didn't make it easier on Demi. I just hope that she has strength to overcome this, makes a full recovery, and gets back to her career.

As sorry as I feel for Demi, I don't think its fair to say that Joe should have been more sensitive to her feelings. They are broken up, he has the right to move on and invite his girlfriend on the tour. I don't see it as rubbing salt in her wounds intentionally, I see it as him moving on. Hopefully she'll get treatment and be able to handle these kinds of things since this will not be the first time she will be expected to face this kind of reality.
If she was just a normal kid and went to HS with an ex, she'd have to see him and his new GF everyday, this to me is no different than a typical teen/young adult break-up.
